Job Title: Academic Director / Vice-Principal Location : Sharjah, United Arab Emirates Reports to : Principal / School Board Curriculum : American / British / International Curriculum Experience Required : Minimum 10 years of administrative experience in American, British, or International Curriculum schools Qualification: Post-Graduation & Bachelor / Master’s Degree in Education. (Preferable - Ph.D. & IELTS Level 7) Job Purpose To lead, support, and enhance the academic excellence and operational efficiency of the school by developing and implementing academic strategies, mentoring staff, and ensuring compliance with curriculum standards and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities Academic Leadership Develop, implement, and monitor the academic vision, mission, and goals aligned with the school’s strategic plan. Oversee curriculum development, review, and implementation in line with American, British, or International educational standards. Drive data-informed instructional practices and academic interventions to improve student outcomes. Ensure compliance with UAE education authorities (SPEA/MOE) and accreditation standards. Administrative Leadership Support the Principal in managing day-to-day school operations, including staffing, scheduling, student discipline, and parent communication. Lead and mentor Heads of Departments, Grade Leaders, and teaching staff to maintain high professional standards. Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and professional development of academic staff. Monitor academic performance metrics and prepare detailed reports for senior management and stakeholders. Quality Assurance and Compliance Conduct regular academic audits, classroom observations, and teacher evaluations. Maintain records and documentation required by educational regulatory bodies. Coordinate school inspections, accreditations, and compliance visits. Stakeholder Engagement Communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and external agencies. Organize and lead academic review meetings, parent conferences, and school improvement initiatives. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and academic excellence. Qualifications & Requirements Master’s Degree in Education / Educational Leadership or equivalent (Doctorate preferred for Academic Director role) Minimum 10 years of progressive administrative experience in a leadership capacity within American, British, or International Curriculum schools Proven track record in curriculum leadership, staff development, and school improvement initiatives Strong understanding of educational best practices, instructional leadership, and school management systems Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills Familiarity with SPEA/MOE regulatory frameworks is highly preferred UAE experience or regional experience in the Gulf is an advantage Preferred Attributes Visionary leadership and strategic thinking Commitment to excellence and innovation in education Cultural sensitivity and ability to thrive in a multicultural environment Show more Show less
