Position Overview
The Welding Engineer will support welding operations by developing welding procedures, ensuring compliance with international codes, coordinating with QA/QC, and supporting production teams in optimizing welding methods. The role demands expertise in materials, welding processes, and quality standards with strong collaboration and problem-solving abilities in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in creation and qualification of WPS, PQR, and SWP aligned to project specifications and ensure welding operations comply with ASME, API, PED, and other applicable standards.
- Conduct welding inspections and monitor adherence to structural integrity, safety requirements, and customer specifications.
- Coordinate with QA/QC teams to ensure full compliance with internal and client-defined quality expectations.
- Collaborate with design, production, metallurgy, and project management teams to resolve weldability challenges and optimize welding processes.
- Provide technical guidance to welders on procedures, standards, material compatibility, and best welding practices.
- Support welder training and skill enhancement initiatives focused on welding quality and safety.
- Assist in selection, monitoring, and control of welding machines, consumables, fixtures, and associated equipment for efficient production.
- Track welding consumable usage and support optimization for cost-effectiveness and operational productivity.
- Analyze welding defects, conduct root cause analysis, and support implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Contribute to continuous process improvements to enhance weld quality, productivity, and compliance across projects.
- Prepare and maintain welding-related reports, qualification records, inspection documentation, and traceability logs.
- Stay updated on new welding processes, emerging technologies, and relevant standard revisions and implement learnings within operations.
Specialized Technical Knowledge
- Experience in welding of Carbon Steel, Cr-Mo Steel, Stainless Steels (304/316/321/410), and alloy / exotic materials such as Inconel, Duplex or Super Duplex (added advantage).
- Proficiency in welding processes including SMAW, GTAW, SAW, GMAW, ESSC, FCAW, weld overlays, and exposure to GTAW automation preferred.
- Familiarity with ASME Sections I, II, V, VIII, IX and ASME B31.3.
- Knowledge of heat treatment cycles, consumable management and NDT methods (LPE, MPE, UT, RT etc.).
- Exposure to welding qualification, welder certification and procedural compliance preferred.

- Excellent team coordination skills with ability to work cross-functionally.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for engaging welders and engineering teams.
- Detail-oriented with strong focus on safety, quality, and documentation.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- B.E / B.Tech in Metallurgy, Mechanical or Welding Engineering ( M.Tech preferred but not mandatory).
- 5–8 years of experience in welding engineering, preferably within oil & gas, energy, power equipment, or heavy industrial fabrication.
- Experience working with Boilers, Heat Exchangers, Pressure Vessels, Piping Systems, or Structural Fabrication is desirable.
- Familiarity with international fabrication codes and customer specifications (ASME / API / PED).
- Exposure to welding automation and exotic material handling will be a plus.
