Job Summary:
The Warehouse Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing all warehouse operations related to agricultural equipment, parts, and supplies. This role ensures efficient storage, retrieval, and distribution of inventory, while maintaining a safe and organized work environment. The supervisor will manage a team of warehouse staff, optimize inventory control, and collaborate with other departments to support the company's operational goals within the agricultural equipment sector.
Responsibilities:
Inventory Management:
Maintain accurate inventory records using warehouse management systems (WMS) and other relevant software.
Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventory checks to ensure accuracy.
Monitor inventory levels and proactively address discrepancies or shortages, especially for seasonal agricultural parts.
Implement and enforce proper storage procedures to prevent damage and deterioration of equipment and parts.
Manage the receiving, inspection, and storage of incoming shipments.
Optimize warehouse layout for efficient storage and retrieval of agricultural equipment and parts.
Forecast and plan for seasonal inventory fluctuations related to planting, harvesting, and other agricultural cycles.
Warehouse Operations:
Supervise and coordinate daily warehouse activities, including receiving, picking, packing, and shipping.
Ensure timely and accurate fulfilment of customer orders and internal requests.
Operate and maintain warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment, with a focus on agriculture specific machinery.
Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment.
Coordinate with transportation and logistics providers for efficient delivery of goods.
Manage the storage and handling of hazardous materials, such as agricultural chemicals and fuels, in compliance with regulations.
Team Management:
Supervise, train, and motivate warehouse staff.
Schedule and assign work tasks to ensure efficient workflow.
Monitor employee performance and provide feedback and coaching.
Conduct regular team meetings to communicate updates and address concerns.
Resolve employee conflicts and maintain a positive work environment.
Ensure all employees are trained on the safe operation of all equipment, and proper handling of agricultural supplies.
Logistics and Coordination:
Coordinate with the purchasing and sales departments to ensure timely availability of inventory.
Work with service technicians to provide necessary parts and equipment for repairs and maintenance.
Manage the return of defective or unwanted equipment and parts.
Optimize shipping routes and methods to minimize costs and delivery times.
Coordinate with external vendors for specific agricultural equipment repairs and warranty work.
Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, including those specific to agricultural chemicals and equipment.
Prepare and submit regular reports on warehouse operations, inventory levels, and performance metrics.
Maintain accurate records of all warehouse transactions.
Participate in audits and inspections.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
Minimum of 1-9 years of experience in warehouse supervision, preferably in the agricultural equipment industry.
Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control principles.
Proficiency in operating warehouse equipment, including forklifts and other material handling equipment.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
Strong understanding of agricultural equipment, parts, and related supplies.
Ability to lift heavy items, and work in various weather conditions.
Valid driver's license.
Certifications in forklift operation and hazardous material handling (preferred).
Preferred Skills:
Experience with agricultural equipment manufacturers and suppliers.
Knowledge of precision agriculture technology and equipment.
Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
Bilingual abilities.
