Job Title: VP – Accounting, Control & Compliance

Location: India (Pune)

Department: Group Finance & Accounting

Reports to: Managing Director Group Finance & Accounting


About the Role:

We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Vice President Accounting, Control & Compliance. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across global teams. Has a strong background in accounting processes, IFRS, J-SOX/SOX compliance, and is an inspiring people manager. This role is pivotal in ensuring financial integrity and regulatory compliance, while challenging and supporting our global accounting operations to continuously improve quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Internal Control & Compliance

  • Lead the implementation, monitoring, and enhancement of internal controls in line with, among others, J-SOX requirements.

  • Conduct regular reviews to ensure compliance with corporate policies, financial regulations, and statutory requirements.

  • Monitor tax compliance, ensuring accurate and timely filing of tax returns and adhere to local and international tax laws through close collaboration with the global Tax function and regional Tax & Compliance teams.

  • Proactively identify gaps and recommend improvements to strengthen the control environment across global finance operations.

  • Partner with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.


2. Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Challenge and support global accounting teams in improving accounting processes, driving standardization, and enhancing data quality.

  • Oversee and ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of accounting performed in the financial shared service centre in India in accordance with IFRS standards.

  • Coordinate with Group Financial Control and Business Process Owner Record to Report to ensure consistency and alignment in accounting practices.


3. Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team in India, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.

  • Manage a hybrid team structure, consisting of both direct reports and team members managed through a matrix organization, ensuring alignment across functional and regional teams.

  • Set clear objectives, provide regular feedback, and support career development for all team members, regardless of reporting structure.

  • Challenge the status quo by introducing innovative solutions to improve accounting, control, and compliance processes.

  • Drive cross-functional initiatives to improve processes and systems across the finance function.


4. Strategic Finance & Business Partnership

  • Collaborate with global teams across EMEA, America, and APAC to support and drive realization of the strategy and objectives of Finance.

  • Act as advisor to senior management on accounting, compliance, and control matters.

  • Challenge and support our financial shared service centre in achieving higher compliance standards, operational efficiencies, and process improvements.

  • Lead projects to automate financial processes, enhance reporting capabilities, and strengthen financial governance and compliance.


Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree or CPA/CA preferred).

  • 20+ years of progressive experience in accounting, financial control, and compliance in a multinational environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across global teams.

  • Proven experience as a people manager, with strong leadership and team development skills, including managing hybrid teams with both direct and matrix reporting lines.

  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS and regulatory frameworks such as J-SOX or SOX.

  • Demonstrated ability to challenge and support teams to drive continuous improvement in quality and compliance.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and financial reporting tools.
