Vice President of Engineering

Job Summary: As the VP of Engineering , you will be responsible for shaping the engineering culture, leading product development, and scaling our platform to meet growing customer demand. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone who can operate at both strategic and tactical levels. You'll work closely with the founders, product, and design teams to turn ambitious ideas into reality. What You’ll Do: Lead & Scale Engineering: Build, lead, and mentor a world-class engineering team Design the team structure, processes, and culture to support fast growth Balance speed of delivery with long-term scalability and quality Own Engineering Execution: Oversee technical planning, sprint execution, and feature delivery Set clear goals and KPIs for the engineering org Establish strong practices around code quality, testing, and reliability Drive Product and Technical Strategy: Collaborate with Product and Design to define roadmaps and priorities Make key architectural decisions and ensure technical scalability Evaluate and implement tools, frameworks, and platforms to improve velocity Be Hands-On When Needed: Jump into code reviews, architecture discussions, or technical deep-dives Help unblock engineering challenges in a resource-constrained startup environment Support hiring and onboarding through technical vetting and mentorship You Should Have: 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in engineering leadership roles Proven success leading small to medium engineering teams (ideally in a startup or scale-up) Deep technical knowledge in [tech stack—e.g., Go, Docker, Kubernetes, Python, AWS, Azure, GCP, React, etc.] Experience scaling systems and teams from MVP to production at scale Strong understanding of product development, Agile methodologies, and DevOps Excellent communication and leadership skills; able to inspire, guide, and align a team Ability to thrive in uncertainty and pivot quickly when needed Bonus Points: Previous experience as a founding engineer, early-stage CTO, or startup tech lead Experience hiring and managing distributed or remote engineering teams Familiarity with fundraising, technical due diligence, or VC-backed startup dynamics Passion for building from 0 → 1 and solving hard problems with limited resources Show more Show less
