​ Technical Lead / Product Engineer (In-House Applications)

Maria Publishers Pvt. Ltd. is a leading academic publishing company with a strong presence across Tamil Nadu and beyond. As we scale into the next phase of growth, we are building integrated technology platforms to power our Sales, Accounts, and Dispatch operations, alongside our flagship DigiMaria learning platform.We are looking for our first in-house Technical Lead / Product Engineer to take ownership of our internal apps, manage external vendors, and ensure our systems run smoothly during peak business seasons. This role is a mix of hands-on engineering, vendor management, and product ownership — perfect for someone who wants to make a visible impact in a growing company.What You’ll Do

• Own and Manage Applications:

Oversee and support our Sales & Dispatch App (in development) and DigiMaria platform. Ensure smooth integrations with MargBooks (Accounts) and HR1 (HR/Expenses).

• Day-to-Day Support & Fixes:

Triage support tickets from Accounts, Dispatch, and Sales teams. Fix small issues directly; coordinate with agencies for bigger ones.

• Vendor & Project Management:

Act as the bridge between business teams and development agencies. Review code, track delivery, and ensure documentation, SLAs, and handovers are in place.

• Integrations & Automations:

Manage and extend integrations (GST e-invoice/e-way bill APIs, WhatsApp Business API, Payment Gateways, DigiMaria school data, etc.).

• Security & Compliance:

Enforce access controls, device binding for field staff, and maintain audit logs. Ensure data integrity and support monthly IT/HR audits.

• Product Roadmap Partner:

Work closely with management to identify pain points (dispatch, collections, returns, specimens) and translate them into reliable tech solutions.

What We’re Looking For

• 3–6 years of experience in software engineering or product engineering.
• Strong skills in backend development (Node.js/NestJS or Python frameworks like Django/Flask).
• Familiarity with React / React Native (able to debug and guide vendors).
• Experience with APIs, databases (Postgres/MySQL), and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Comfortable with integrations: accounting systems, payment gateways, WhatsApp APIs, etc.
• Ability to write scripts (TypeScript/Python) for automation and quick fixes.
• Strong communication skills — able to explain tech to non-tech colleagues.

Nice to Have

• Experience with ERP-style applications or education technology platforms.
• Knowledge of GST/e-invoice/e-way bill processes.
• Exposure to barcode/QR systems and warehouse/dispatch flows.
• Prior experience in a growth-stage company or handling multi-vendor environments.

Formal Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
• OR strong equivalent hands-on experience (3–6 years in actual product/ERP builds).

Technical Knowledge (must-have)
