Role Overview

hands-on Tech Lead

What You’ll Do

Own the technical architecture
and design of geospatial web applications
Lead project delivery
from scoping and estimation to implementation and support
Mentor a full-stack engineering team
and drive code quality and best practices
Translate business use-cases into modular engineering plans
Drive innovation in geospatial workflows, system scalability, and performance tuning
Bridge hands-on development and leadership
—you’ll write code, review it, and build a strong tech culture

Must-Have Skills

6+ years in software engineering, 2+ years in
tech/team leadership roles
Strong experience with
PostgreSQL + PostGIS
(spatial queries, optimization)
Proficiency in
Python
(APIs, pipelines, automation)
Expertise in
React + TypeScript
frontend stack
Experience designing
microservices, distributed systems
, and API-first architectures
Strong documentation, communication & agile project handling skills

Nice-to-Haves

Rust or similar performant system language exposure
Familiarity with map rendering tools (DeckGL, Mapbox, Leaflet)
Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, cloud (AWS/GCP)
Understanding of location APIs (Google Maps, HERE, OpenStreetMap)
Experience with Redis, Airflow, or spatial data processing queues
