Job Purpose

To advance the business goals of Grasim and safeguard the company’s reputation for integrity by serving as a trusted advisor on strategic legal matters across domestic and international businesses. To exploit opportunities that law provides while proactively anticipating and managing risks, ensuring decisions are both commercially sound and compliant with governance requirements. To bring fresh perspectives, entrepreneurial thinking, and innovative solutions to complex business challenges while staying aligned with customer needs and business priorities.To guide legal teams through mentoring and feedback, driving a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. To foster collaboration by leading cross-functional initiatives, co-creating solutions with business leaders, leveraging industry networks and engaging specialists where needed to deliver business objectives effectively.

Key Accountabilities & Support Actions

  • Legal Strategy & Governance - Lead the legal function by formulating and executing legal strategies that support the organization’s operational and strategic goals. Ensure strong governance by embedding legal risk management frameworks and promoting compliance with laws, regulations, and internal policies. Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on legal risks, ethical standards, and corporate governance matters.
  • Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) - Provide end-to-end legal support for mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other strategic transactions. This includes managing legal due diligence, identifying and mitigating risks, structuring deals, negotiating transaction documents and supporting post-merger integration activities to ensure smooth transition and compliance.
  • Compliance & Regulatory - Establish and oversee robust compliance frameworks that address both domestic and international legal and regulatory requirements. Monitor changes in laws and regulations, drive internal awareness and training, and liaise with regulatory authorities and industry bodies to ensure the organization’s interests are protected and its obligations are met. Report material legal risks and proceedings to the Chief Legal Officer and leadership ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Commercial Contracts & Negotiations - Lead and standardize the organization’s contract management processes to ensure clarity, consistency, and risk mitigation. Oversee the drafting, review, negotiation, and approval of a wide range of commercial contracts, ensuring alignment with business needs while safeguarding the organization’s legal and commercial interests.
  • Litigation & Dispute Resolution - Manage all litigation, arbitration, and regulatory proceedings involving the organization. Develop effective dispute resolution strategies, coordinate with external stakeholders, ensure timely, cost-efficient, and favourable outcomes. Proactively identify potential disputes and work with internal stakeholders to mitigate risks in advance.
  • Real Estate & Asset Management - Oversee all legal aspects of real estate transactions and asset management across CFI businesses. Ensure clear title verification, manage lease and sale agreements, secure necessary approvals and compliances, and mitigate risks associated with land acquisition, development, and property management.
  • Business Legal Advisory - Provide strategic legal guidance across M&A, procurement, sales, distribution, IP, technology transfer, and digital initiatives, while ensuring compliance with employment, competition, data privacy, and regulatory laws. Deliver actionable advice on contracts, real estate, and operational matters, balancing business priorities with governance and ethical standards.
  • Leadership & Stakeholder Management - Lead, mentor, and develop the in-house legal team to build a high-performing function. Foster strong partnerships with cross-functional business leaders and manage relationships with external stakeholders and legal service providers to ensure efficient and aligned legal support across the organization.
  • Business Partnering - Act as a strategic business partner to leadership by aligning legal strategy with growth initiatives such as acquisitions, expansions, integrations, and new projects, ensuring risks are anticipated and managed without hindering business agility. Act as a member of the business management team, shaping strategic decisions under the Strategic Cost and Case Management (SCCM) framework.
