Role Overview: The Communications Team Lead will play a strategic and hands-on role in shaping how Dasra communicates its work and impact. This position will help strengthen the organization’s core communications assets, co-develop the One Dasra Narrative Hub, and ensure consistent, compelling messaging across teams and platforms. The role will involve managing Dasra’s social media presence, coordinating with external partners—including design and production vendors—and supporting key narrative and brand initiatives.In addition, the Team Lead will contribute to the strategic planning and execution of communications for flagship events in India and globally, helping position Dasra as a thought leader and systems orchestrator in the social sector. This role is ideal for someone who can balance creativity with precision, and who thrives at the intersection of storytelling, strategy, and execution.Key Responsibilities:Narrative Building:
  • Develop compelling narratives that reflect Dasra’s mission, vision, and impact, ensuring consistency across all communication channels.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to craft and refine key messages that align with Dasra's strategic goals.
  • Shape Dasra’s story and voice in a way that engages various stakeholders, including funders, NGOs, partners, and the public.
Content Strategy & Delivery:
  • Support the creation of content calendars and ensure timely delivery of content across various platforms.
  • Monitor media trends and audience preferences to create relevant and engaging content.
  • Evaluate and analyze the effectiveness of communication efforts, suggesting improvements and optimizing outreach strategies
Thought Leadership and Public Relations:
  • Develop high-quality thought leadership content including op-eds, blogs, speeches, and presentations that reflect Dasra’s voice and strategy.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, leadership, and external writers to manage content pipelines.
  • Ensure all communications align with brand guidelines and narrative priorities.
  • Drive data-informed, insight-led content that strengthens Dasra’s thought leadership in philanthropy and development.
  • Support in leading PR efforts by managing the external PR agency
  • Track media coverage and ensure consistent, strategic visibility across platforms.
Dasra Branding & Communications:
  • Uphold and strengthen Dasra’s brand identity across all communication materials, both internal and external.
  • Ensure consistent messaging across all touchpoints, including social media, newsletters, website, and press materials.
  • Assist in the development and execution of digital campaigns and strategies that amplify Dasra’s visibility and impact.
  • Ensure the Dasra website and other assets are regularly updated with fresh content and accurate data.

Skills And Qualifications

Essential Skills:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong grasp of brand storytelling and audience engagement
  • Proven experience in leading communications initiatives across digital platforms, events, and internal teams
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to align communications with organizational goals
  • Demonstrated ability to manage social media channels, with hands-on experience in content planning, publishing, and performance tracking
  • Proficiency in developing and maintaining communications assets (decks, newsletters, videos, reports, etc.)
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Experience in coordinating with external partners such as PR agencies, designers, content creators, and production teams
  • Familiarity with brand and narrative development in a mission-driven or multi-stakeholder context
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field
  • 6-8 years of relevant work experience, ideally in the development, philanthropy, or social impact sector
  • Experience leading communication efforts for campaigns, global events, or multi-partner initiatives
  • Competence in using design and publishing tools (e.g., Canva, PowerPoint; Adobe Creative Suite is a plus)
  • Understanding of media relations, thought leadership development, and storytelling frameworks
  • Familiarity with digital analytics tools (LinkedIn Analytics, Google Analytics, etc.)
