Your Team's Impact
A Windows Systems Administrator is part of the Systems Infrastructure group. This position is responsible for the deployment and maintenance of Windows servers used within FactSet. Production Windows systems exist in our data centers, offices worldwide, and many client locations. The environment is very aggressively monitored and managed due to an extremely low tolerance for downtime. In addition, this position will troubleshoot and resolve complex issues, make recommendations for improving the environment, and work closely with talented Unix, Network, Security, and Storage engineers. This position requires a driven individual who is very strong technically, well versed in industry best practices, learns quickly and is willing and capable of working with a diverse team in different time zones.
What You'll Do
- Monitor patch compliance and system health, generating detailed reports and dashboards for stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot client and infrastructure issues, ensuring BigFix agents and servers function optimally across environments.
- Automate patching workflows and reporting using scripting (PowerShell, Shell) and integrate with tools like Kibana or Splunk.
- Monitor system health and troubleshoot issues related to hardware, OS, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
- Document system configurations and procedures, and collaborate with teams for system upgrades and disaster recovery planning.
What We're Looking For
- B. Tech or equivalent
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in the IT industry
- Excellent initiative, interpersonal skills, and problem solving skills
- Ability to manage many projects simultaneously, prioritizing appropriately
- Ability to strongly communicate with other administrators and end users
- Experience in troubleshooting technical problems involving hardware, operating systems, and applications
- 24x7 on-call availability
- Willingness to work in shifts, and weekends.
Desired Skills
- Experience in administration of Windows Server 2016/2019/2022
- Should have strong knowledge in PowerShell scripting
- Experience in Active directory, group policy management.
- Good knowledge in BigFix patching
- Experience in solving technical systems problems safely and quickly
- Good knowledge in HP, Dell server hardware
- Good knowledge in storage (array controllers, RAID types, logical volume management, SAN)
- Good knowledge in network topology and distributed system concepts
- Good knowledge of systems maintenance procedures
- Ability to create automation to manage public cloud infrastructure lifecycle
- Experience with AWS/Azure public cloud services
- Having Hyper-V experience will be added advantage.
- Ability to produce high quality documentation
- Self-disciplined and highly motivated
