Support - SMS - Process - Steel

1. Steel Melting Operations:

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) / Basic Oxygen Furnace (BOF) / Induction Furnace (IF).

• Ensure adherence to standard process parameters for each heat cycle including charge preparation, tapping, and slag management.

• Coordinate with Ladle Refining Furnace (LRF), VD/VOD, and Continuous Casting operations to maintain smooth process flow.

2. Process Control & Optimization:

• Monitor heat-wise data and control deviations in process parameters (temperature, composition, oxygen levels, etc.).

• Ensure optimal usage of raw materials (scrap, DRI, ferroalloys, fluxes) to improve yield and reduce cost.

• Implement best practices to reduce energy consumption, electrode consumption, and melting time.

3. Quality Assurance:

• Coordinate with Quality Control to ensure the chemical and physical quality of molten steel meets product specifications.

• Investigate and analyze causes of internal rejections and implement corrective/preventive actions.

4. Safety & Compliance:

• Ensure strict adherence to safety norms and environmental regulations during melting and handling operations.

• Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and promote safe working practices on the shop floor.

5. Team Management & Coordination:

• Supervise and guide shift engineers, supervisors, and operators.

• Coordinate with maintenance, electrical, refractory, and casting teams for smooth operation and issue resolution.

• Participate in manpower planning, skill development, and training initiatives.

6. Reporting & Documentation:

• Maintain records of production, delays, breakdowns, and process deviations.

• Prepare daily/weekly/monthly performance reports and submit to department head.

• Use data analytics for decision-making and process improvement.

7. Continuous Improvement:

• Drive lean manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, and TPM initiatives.

• Participate in projects related to automation, digitalization, and predictive maintenance.
