Solar Design Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare

  detailed system designs

  , including PV layout, string sizing, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and electrical design calculations.
• Conduct

  site assessments

  using survey reports, drone images, and client inputs to ensure feasibility and accuracy in design.
• Perform

  shadow analysis, yield estimation, and generation reports

  using tools such as PVsyst, Helioscope, and AutoCAD.
• Prepare

  BOM (Bill of Materials)

  , DC/AC cable sizing, earthing & lightning protection design, and load calculations as per industry standards.
• Ensure compliance with

  National and International codes

  , including CEA, IEC, IS standards, and DISCOM/utility requirements.
• Coordinate with project, procurement, and O&M teams to ensure the design is technically feasible and aligned with project goals.
• Participate in technical discussions with clients, consultants, EPC partners, and vendors.
• Review engineering drawings, vendor documents, and design submissions before finalization.
• Support the tendering and costing team by providing technical inputs, preliminary designs, and project-specific engineering calculations.
• Provide

  as-built drawings

  , technical documentation, and support during commissioning of the plant.

Skills & Competencies Required

• Strong command over

  AutoCAD

  ,

  PVsyst

  ,

  Helioscope

  , SketchUp, and MS Office tools.
• Good understanding of solar PV components like modules, inverters, cables, junction boxes, transformers, and mounting structures.
• Knowledge of

  power system design

  , electrical protection systems, SCADA layout, and grid integration.
• Ability to perform

  energy generation simulations

  and prepare DPR (Detailed Project Reports).
• Familiarity with

  floating solar design

  , rooftop structures, and MW-scale project engineering is an added advantage.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Educational Qualification

• B.Tech / B.E in

  Electrical Engineering

  ,

  Electronics Engineering

  , or related field.
• Certifications in solar PV technology or design tools are preferred.

Experience Required

• 2 to 6 years

  of hands-on experience in

  solar PV design

  , preferably in EPC or renewable energy companies.
