Your Team’s Impact
We are seeking a detail-oriented Python Data Engineer with a passion for collaboration, process improvement, and scalable data solutions. In this mid-level role, you’ll partner with product managers, business users, and senior engineers to design, implement, and maintain data pipelines that power critical business workflows. You’ll balance feature development, vendor data onboarding, bug fixing, and support responsibilities—growing your technical skills while contributing to ongoing enhancements across our large-scale data systems.
What You’II Do
- Develop & Enhance Data Pipelines: Build, update, and optimize Python/SQL-based ETL workflows integrating new vendor feeds and third-party data sources. Translate business requirements into robust data processes, ensuring operational stability and scalability.
- Vendor Integration & Data Onboarding: Participate in onboarding, testing, and deploying new external data sources or APIs. Collaborate across teams to clarify requirements and deliver maintainable integration solutions.
- Operational Support & Troubleshooting: Monitor pipeline jobs, investigate and resolve data issues and errors, and join in on-call support rotation as needed.
- Quality & Continuous Improvement: Actively contribute to code reviews, refactor code for clarity and efficiency, and help improve unit test coverage and script reliability.
- Automation & DevOps Collaboration: Automate repetitive workflows using CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.), and work with DevOps for release management and smooth production deployments.
- Documentation & Communication: Create clear docstrings, process guides, onboarding docs, and process diagrams. Confidently explain solutions and participate in team discussions and ceremonies.
- Team Engagement & Learning: Join in sprint planning, standups, backlog grooming, and share updates and knowledge with cross-functional teammates.
What We’re Looking For
- Mandatory: 3+ years of hands-on experience with Python for data engineering, ETL, or workflow development, including production experience in Databricks (Databricks notebooks, Delta Lake, Databricks Jobs, and Spark on Databricks).
- Mandatory: Strong SQL skills; experience working with large databases and performing complex data integration/transformation on Databricks.
- Mandatory: Solid experience with ETL frameworks and workflow/orchestration tools, specifically Databricks (Prefect, Airflow, and/or Databricks required).
- Exposure to onboarding and integrating vendor/third-party feeds or external data APIs, preferably via Databricks workflows.
- Proficiency with Git, pull requests, and code reviews; understanding of CI/CD principles as applied to Databricks deployments.
- Basic cloud experience (preferably AWS: S3, EC2, Lambda, Databricks).
- Strong troubleshooting/debugging skills for both code and production job failures, especially for Databricks pipelines.
- Good communication skills (spoken and written); able to document work and collaborate effectively with technical and business partners.
Bonus/Preferred Skills
- Experience creating or updating technical documentation, diagrams, or onboarding guides
- Experience with dashboarding/visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
- Familiarity with automation tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins) or infrastructure as code (Terraform)
- Interest in business data, analytics, and operational reporting
