The Release Engineering team strives to increase the velocity of innovation to our cloud services and ensure overall developer productivity. To be successful in this role: You have experience in development, testing and systems automation. You have experience in Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery principles in the domain of cloud-based web applications. You are a firm believer in pipeline-as-code. You are passionate about end-to-end automation of all aspects of the delivery pipeline. Manager Development Operations Release Engineering is hands-on and technical role, focusing on automating services using the latest technology for Oracle Fusion Applications. The goal is to smoothly transition source code to the cloud. This position involves solving complex issues within a specialized domain, requiring advanced technical and business skills. Autonomy in tasks is at a medium level, with regular reporting to management. Collaboration with a global team underscores the need to work with diverse cultures and prevent conflicts. As a Senior Manager you will be leading a small team, where you have to mentor, coach, and monitor their output. Have regular 1:1 and guide the team, define their goals, measure and rate them. Responsibilities Responsibilities: Delivery Automation and Problem Solving: Apply experience in Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery principles for cloud-based web applications. Innovate within Life Cycle Management Activities to automate manual processes, reducing human hours. Focus on end-to-end automation of delivery cycles. Technical Expertise: Demonstrate proficiency in cloud platforms such as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Azure, Amazon, and other Oracle products like Fusion Middleware and Databases. Experience with large-scale, Linux-based enterprise software including database and middle tier layers. Apply secure coding principles, ensuring the team adheres to security guidelines. Possess a thorough understanding and hands-on experience with microservices. Advocate for pipeline-as-code principles. Think beyond immediate needs while providing updates. Team Leadership and Mentorship: Lead a distributed team, providing coaching, mentorship, and training to junior members. Lead teams of 6+ members for at least 5 years, conducting appraisals and submitting promotion requests. Conduct regular 1:1 session, define roadmaps for engineers, and address hurdles in their day-to-day work. Project Management and Planning: Understand management requirements and articulate them to the team with clear timelines. Create and handle project plans and schedules, ensuring accurate completion. Guide and mentor, the team in project planning, emphasizing employee well-being. Experience in metrics/analytics and continual improvement based on data-driven analytics. Software Delivery Pipeline: Operate a fully automated cloud software delivery pipeline. Identify and implement improvements with a focus on Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and 100% automation. Experience with CI release engineering tools, monitoring tools, and performance tuning. Development and Testing: Expertise in software development lifecycle, testing methodologies, and change/configuration management practices. Drive the team with new features and constant technology updates. Quick resolution of bugs, working globally with counterparts. Technical Skills and Leadership: Proficient in source code management concepts and modern systems. Strong scripting skills (Groovy, Go, Python, Linux shell scripting). Troubleshoot across network, application, caching, queuing, load-balancing, storage, and distributed services layers. Lead projects and mentor junior team members. Experience and Education: BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience; MBA degree preferred. 8+ years in software development, systems automation, build management, testing, or related field. Minimum of 4 years of experience with Java, and SQL dialects, as well as JavaScript, and React; T-SQL and PowerShell experience is a plus. Strong scripting skills e.g. Groovy, Go, Python, Linux shell scripting, etc. Shown success in a team-oriented and problem-solving environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical content to both technical and non-technical peers, customers, and at times, executive leadership. Self-starter with sharp troubleshooting and analytical skills. Leadership, autonomy, and intuition for business in fast-paced environments – Proven track record to: Make sound decisions. Deliver on commitments. Handle multiple challenging priorities. Motivate and lead multi-functional teams. Drive ground-breaking changes in a highly technical, dynamic environment. Ability to take high level direction and implement projects to deliver value. Determined and comfortable driving forward even when some aspects of a project are not fully known.
