Junior DBA Engineer

The Order (ORR) division is in charge of the R&D activities related to:

• Electronic documents, sales and financial reporting

This scope encompasses the E-ticket, EMD storage and associated use cases; the inter-system communications involved in ticketing flows (other E-tickets servers, DCS, ground handlers); the financial feeds (sales and usage) to third party systems (BSP, airlines Revenue Accounting), batch or online; the end users; print-outs based on electronic documents; data; the E-ticket/RTS and EMD synchronizer products.

• Order management system (OrMS), part of Nevio, the new retailing platform

OrMS is a central module of a retail platform. It interacts with retail layers (digital/NDC/touch point solutions), Offer Management system, Delivery system, Data Hub, order handling specific engines like revenue accounting, and as well, with external partners systems (e.g : Others OrMS systems).

• Financial revenue accounting (ARA) and revenue integrity (ARI)

Revenue Accounting is the link between the PSS or retailing platform and an airline’s financial system. It allows to capture and report sales and usage information, perform accounting of any document, as well as manage billing with interline and codeshare partners.

Revenue integrity is the safeguard of an airline’s revenue, along the steps of the booking flow, allowing full control on its inventory.

Our applications are managing more than 60000 online cumulated transactions per second, 150 airlines and 120 markets, representing more than 800 million documents created per year worldwide and one of the biggest databases in Amadeus. Financial records through our systems represent around 1 Billon USD per day.

DST department’s mission is to connect the development, security, and operational activities supporting the Order domain, as well as foster the transformations linked to the operational topics.

As such, DST is in charge of :

• DevSecFinOps activities in Order division

• Stability, Security and compliance improvements

• Engineering Experience improvements

• Major transformations impacting our way of working as well as the technologies we use

• Summary of the role:

• In this role you’ll:
  

  • Plan, document, allocate, install, and configure database servers (with appropriate patch level and within current security standards) with a strong emphasis on high availability and fault tolerance and disaster recovery including multi-site high-availability as required.
  • Plan, create, implement, monitor, and maintain backup solutions via automation, as well as perform backup restore validation tasks.
  • Design, build, maintain database monitoring solutions for 100's of databases, several of which are in the multiple terabyte range across data platforms.
  • Manage databases through phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), from development through critical Production systems. Manage and create standards, procedures, and policies for governing database environments
  • Provide escalation support, troubleshooting and resolution assistance, and performance tuning aid for the platform and operational database teams.

About the ideal candidate:

• Preferred qualifications and skills:
  

  • 3+ years managing Oracle database technologies, such as Oracle 12c/19c, GoldenGate, and Exadata, in a critical, highly available enterprise operation.
  • Experience working with Azure or other cloud providers, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server(2017 – 2022), Postgres or other DB technologies is a plus.
