Job Overview

The Senior Trader – Spices – Chilli role at Reliance Retail is a full-time position based in Guntur. This senior-level opportunity focuses on end-to-end spices commodity trading, with a strong emphasis on chilli. The role requires expert handling of sourcing, negotiations, P&L management, and will work closely with multiple stakeholders to optimize sourcing strategies and deliver value across the retail supply chain.

Qualifications and Skills

• Demonstrated expertise in spices commodity trading, with a proven track record in managing end-to-end operations (Mandatory skill)
• Extensive hands-on experience specifically in chilli sourcing and trading, including market assessment and supplier engagement
• Advanced negotiation skills for securing favorable terms with suppliers, distributors, and relevant stakeholders
• Proficiency in managing P&L, ensuring business targets are met, and maintaining stringent cost control throughout trading cycles
• Thorough understanding of spice market trends, quality standards, and compliance regulations relevant to the retail sector
• Ability to establish and maintain robust supplier relationships to guarantee product quality and timely procurement
• Strong decision-making and analytical skills essential for risk management, demand forecasting, and inventory planning
• Keen focus on operational efficiency and continuous improvement across various aspects of the sourcing process

Roles and Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end trading process for spices, with a sharp focus on chilli, from supplier identification to final delivery
• Drive sourcing strategies to ensure consistent availability of high-quality products at optimal costs
• Conduct market intelligence, trend analysis, and risk assessment to maximize trading effectiveness
• Execute contracts, price negotiations, and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, farmers, and intermediaries
• Monitor P&L for the assigned category, track performance indicators, and implement corrective measures when required
• Collaborate with internal teams for demand planning, inventory management, and ensuring timely fulfillment of requirements
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, quality benchmarks, and company policies
• Provide leadership and mentorship within the trading team, fostering knowledge sharing and process improvement
