To ensure the quality and reliability of mechanical components, assemblies, and processes by implementing IRIS-compliant quality systems. The Senior QA Engineer will be responsible for incoming and in-process quality assurance, control of special processes, test jig maintenance, calibration, and supporting mechanical product development with robust quality documentation
• Carry out incoming inspection of mechanical parts, subassemblies, and consumables as per drawings/specifications.
• Ensure in-process quality checks on mechanical assemblies and support corrective actions for deviations.
• Verify compliance with drawings, GD&T, and customer specifications during First Article Inspections (FAI).
• Conduct patrol audits on production lines to ensure adherence to process and quality requirements.
• Monitor yield and take corrective actions to improve First Pass Yield (FPY)
• Prepare and maintain PFMEA, Control Plans, and Work Instructions for mechanical processes.
• Ensure compliance with IRIS/ISO 9001 quality system requirements.
• Monitor NCRs, initiate root cause analysis, and track corrective/preventive actions.
• Perform Measurement System Analysis (MSA) using statistical tools to validate accuracy and reliability of inspection systems.
• Apply structured problem-solving methodologies (RCA, 8D, 5-Why) to resolve recurring issues.
• Implement and promote Kaizen activities and Quality Circles for continuous improvement.
• Drive initiatives to enhance process capability and reduce defects.
• Monitor and enforce ESD compliance in the factory
• Oversee special processes (e.g., welding, coating, painting, cleaning) for compliance with standards and customer requirements.
• Ensure operators and technicians are trained and qualified for special processes.
• Maintain and periodically verify test jigs and fixtures used for mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Ensure calibration of gauges, measuring instruments, and test equipment as per schedule.
• Maintain calibration records in compliance with IRIS and customer requirements.
• Provide quality assurance support during new mechanical product development and design validation.
• Conduct FAI and qualification testing for new mechanical assemblies.
• Collaborate with R&D, production, and QA teams to ensure robust quality planning and risk mitigation.
• 5–8 years of experience in QA in manufacturing (railway/electronics/transportation domain preferred).
• Experience in an IRIS-certified company is preferable.
• Knowledge of special process standards (IPC 610, welding, painting, coating, bonding) desirable.
• Internal Auditor certification (ISO 9001/IRIS) is an added advantage.
