Job Summary

We are looking for a Senior Production Engineer with 4–7 years of experience to lead and oversee production operations in Chennai. The role requires strong expertise in sheet metal fabrication, welding (TIG/MIG for stainless steel), CAD tools, and resource optimization. The Senior Production Engineer will be responsible for managing production teams, driving efficiency, ensuring quality and safety standards, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise shop floor operations to achieve production targets, quality standards, and timely delivery.

• Plan, schedule, and prioritize production activities in line with project and client requirements.

• Provide technical expertise in sheet metal fabrication, TIG/MIG welding for stainless steel assemblies, assembly, and finishing processes.

• Oversee resource allocation and optimize utilization of manpower, materials, and equipment.

• Drive compliance with 5S, EHS, Kaizen, and lean manufacturing principles.

• Establish, implement, and monitor Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.

• Collaborate with the Quality team to ensure robust in-process and final inspections.

• Analyse production KPIs (output, downtime, rejection, efficiency) and implement corrective actions.

• Support the integration of prototypes and new product designs into the production process in coordination with R&D.

• Mentor and train production team members on best practices, welding methods, and safety protocols.

• Initiate and lead process improvement, cost reduction, and productivity enhancement projects.

• Maintain production documentation for traceability, audits, and client requirements.

• Liaise with procurement and planning teams to ensure uninterrupted material flow.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

• 4–7 years of experience in production/manufacturing roles, with at least 2+ years in sheet metal fabrication and welding.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and other CAD software.

• Hands-on expertise in TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) and MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding for stainless steel assemblies.

• Strong background in resource optimization, 5S, Kaizen, EHS, and lean manufacturing.

• Proven leadership and team management experience.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

• Language proficiency:

English and Tamil (Mandatory), Hindi (Optional).

• Immediate joiners preferred; otherwise, candidates should specify their notice period.

Work Arrangements & Requirements

• Full-time, permanent role based in Chennai (in-person work).

• Day shift schedule (Monday to Friday).

• Saturday and Sunday off.

• Candidates must have their own travel arrangements (no transport facility provided).

• Occasional travel may be required for supplier/vendor visits.
