Overview
We are seeking a
senior-level Product Application Engineer
with deep expertise in product design and applications engineering to
lead, drive, and deliver
high-quality, customer-centric engineered solutions. This role will support a designated
product line
from India GCC, partnering closely with US stakeholders. The ideal candidate will combine

to operate independently, mentor junior engineers, and accelerate solution delivery.Under minimal supervision, you will interpret complex customer requirements, adapt released product designs to meet application-specific needs, lead design modifications, and ensure manufacturability, quality, and cost effectiveness. You will also contribute to process improvements and standard work to scale engineering excellence.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
Customer & Application Engineering
- Interpret routine to complex customer quotes and orders; clarify requirements through strong remote communication and discovery.
- Develop and deliver application-specific, custom engineered solutions that meet performance, safety, compliance, and cost objectives.
- Provide expert technical support through escalation, including troubleshooting existing installations and recommending corrective actions.
- Review non-standard orders for manufacturability and apply custom order detailing and clear manufacturing instructions.
Design & Technical Execution
- Lead design changes and product adaptations using SolidWorks (required); utilize AutoCAD (beneficial) to develop custom layouts, assemblies, and drawings.
- Own and improve calculations, workflows, templates, and standard work to increase engineering throughput and quality.
- Contribute design modifications that enhance product quality, facilitate manufacturing operations, reduce cost, and improve product offerings.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead work independently—plan, prioritize, and drive multiple projects in parallel under minimal supervision.
- Mentor and groom junior engineers; set technical direction, review their work, and build capability in the India engineering team.
- Collaborate cross-functionally (Manufacturing, Product Management, Sales, Quality, Supply Chain) to align requirements, resolve issues, and accelerate delivery.
- Establish clear accountability for outcomes; track progress, manage risks, and communicate status proactively.
Process & Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement improvements to engineering processes, tools, and data (e.g., CAD standards, BOM accuracy, tolerance stack-up practices).
- Partner with operations to drive out costs, improve quality, and enhance manufacturability.
- Contribute to playbooks, checklists, and knowledge artifacts to scale best practices across sites (India and US).
Required Experience
- 10–15 years of experience in Product Engineering and Design changes within a manufacturing product company environment.
- Demonstrated success delivering custom applications and leading complex engineering workstreams end-to-end.
- Proven ability to operate remotely and still capture nuanced requirements, influence decisions, and maintain strong stakeholder engagement.
Education
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Bachelor’s degree with equivalent work experience.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Deep design engineering foundation: solid mechanics, materials, GD\&T, tolerance analysis, DFM/DFA, and drawing standards.
- SolidWorks expertise (required); AutoCAD experience (beneficial).
- Exceptional oral and written communication; proactive in initiating and sustaining communication via phone, email, IM, and video.
- Ability to lead, coach, and hold teams accountable while driving multiple projects in parallel under minimal supervision.
- Strong problem-solving, structured thinking, and documentation skills; able to craft clear, concise, comprehensive test plans and design documentation when applicable.
- Comfortable working across time zones and collaborating with US teams and manufacturing facilities.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice To Have)
- Experience with PLM/PDM systems, BOM management, and engineering change control.
- Background in cost reduction, value engineering, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Experience establishing engineering standards, design guidelines, and reusable templates.
- Prior leadership of a small engineering team or technical mentoring responsibilities.
