Job TitleSenior Legal Counsel
Job Summary
We are seeking a strategic legal partner to provide business-focused legal advisory and support Philips’ growth and transformation across the Indian Subcontinent. You serve as primary legal counsel to regional management, business units, and functions including sales, marketing, distribution, supply chain, procurement, finance, and operations. You will collaborate closely with business partners to resolve legal issues, mitigate risks, and drive commercial outcomes while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and Philips’ business principles.
Key Responsibilities
Legal Advisory & Commercial Contracting
- Provide legal advice on commercial transactions, including distributor and dealer agreements, procurement agreements and supply agreements
- Review and advice on government tenders, public procurement processes and purchase orders from government and private healthcare institutions
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements with a focus on risk mitigation and business enablement
- Support strategic business initiatives and partnerships across multiple business areas
Compliance & Risk Management
- Develop and implement legal policies, procedures, and standardized agreement templates
- Conduct legal audits of business functions to ensure compliance with applicable laws, contracts, and Philips policies
- Build awareness of legal risk exposures across the organization through training and advisory
- Monitor regulatory developments relevant to the medical devices and healthcare industry
Dispute Resolution & Litigation Management
- Manage and defend litigation, claims, and disputes, including coordination with external counsel
- Lead dispute resolution through negotiation, mediation, and arbitration
- Provide guidance on dispute prevention and contractual risk management
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on impactful business decisions
- Lead and contribute to multi-disciplinary projects involving multiple functions and geographies
- Influence stakeholders without direct authority in a matrix environment
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognized institution
- Company Secretary (CS) qualification is desirable
Experience
- 10 years of progressive legal experience in corporate and/or law firm settings in commercial contracts, litigation management, regulatory compliance, and general corporate advisory
- Experience in healthcare industry is desirable

How We Work Together
We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week.Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities.Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.Indicate if this role is an office/field/onsite role.
