ROLE BRIEF
We are looking for a Senior Lead, Finance who brings a blend of strategic financial depth and hands-on capability. You will lead a 2-3 member finance team. You will head Indus Action’s finance function, ensuring robust financial planning, compliance, and risk management to support our mission. The role will oversee budgeting, donor and statutory reporting, and cashflow management while driving efficiency through high-quality MIS and systems. As a senior leader, you will mentor the finance team and work closely with program and fundraising teams to enable financially sound, strategic decision-making.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Financial Planning & Strategy
- Lead annual and quarterly budgeting, re-forecasting, and scenario planning.
- Align financial strategy with programmatic and fundraising priorities.
- Develop cashflow management frameworks to ensure adequate runway and liquidity.
- Financial Operations & Compliance
- Oversee accounting, audits, and all statutory compliance (Companies Act, FCRA, Income Tax, CSR law).
- Strengthen internal controls, policies, and processes for accuracy and efficiency.
- Ensure timely donor and statutory reporting with high-quality documentation.
- Management Reporting & Insights
- Produce monthly MIS with variance analysis, trend insights, and efficiency metrics.
- Partner with program and functional heads to drive cost efficiency and informed decision-making.
- Anticipate financial risks (e.g., regulatory, liquidity, donor delays) and propose mitigation plans.
- Leadership & Collaboration
- Manage and mentor the existing finance team, building technical depth and leadership capacity.
- Work cross-functionally with Fundraising, MERL, Tech, and HR to enable financially sound decision-making.
- Drive adoption of tech-enabled solutions for finance operations and MIS.
SKILLS & EDUCATION
- Qualifications: CA / ICWA / MBA (Finance) with 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Sector Experience: Strong understanding of NGO finance, especially FCRA, CSR funding, and donor compliance.
- Technical Expertise: Financial modelling, cashflow management, MIS, and audit readiness.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to manage teams and build capacity.
- Analytical Ability: Skilled in variance analysis, cost efficiency, and risk management.
- Technology Orientation: Comfortable with accounting software, MIS dashboards, and automation tools.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication, ability to influence non-finance colleagues, and a collaborative mindset.

COMPENSATION
The Senior Lead will be compensated between 13-21LPA based on Indus Action‘s compensation benchmarking rubric. The range of compensation will depend on qualifications, experience, and role fitment.
