Position Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and technically adept Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our Data Management Platforms team in Chennai.

In this role, you will be responsible for building, operating, and modernizing enterprise-grade data management infrastructure across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. You’ll work extensively with Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog, Apache NiFi, and other data integration and analytics platforms — focusing on performance tuning, automation, cloud enablement, and operational excellence.

You’ll also provide second-level global support (primarily during Asia-Pacific hours) and collaborate with infrastructure, application, and data teams to ensure platform stability, scalability, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

1. Infrastructure Engineering & Support

• Design, install, configure, and maintain Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog, Apache NiFi, and other enterprise data management platforms.

• Provide 2nd-level global operational support under a Follow-the-Sun model, with coverage during Asia-Pacific (IST) hours.

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure or platform-related issues in collaboration with vendors and platform teams.

2. Modernization & Cloud Enablement

• Lead and support initiatives to migrate data platforms to cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).

• Contribute to the design and implementation of hybrid cloud architectures, supporting containerization, virtualization, and elastic scaling.

• Participate in platform modernization projects to enhance automation, performance, and security posture.

3. Performance Monitoring & Optimization

• Implement monitoring and alerting tools to track system health and performance (CPU, memory, storage, and network utilization).

• Conduct regular performance reviews to identify bottlenecks and optimize system configurations.

• Develop proactive performance tuning and scaling strategies based on platform usage patterns.

4. Automation & Security

• Develop automation scripts (Python, Shell, or equivalent) for deployment, configuration, and maintenance tasks.

• Implement security best practices—including access control, encryption, and vulnerability remediation.

• Collaborate with enterprise security teams to align infrastructure with organizational standards.

5. Documentation & Process Management

• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including installation guides, runbooks, FAQs, and process documentation.

• Manage documentation repositories (e.g., SharePoint) and ensure updates reflect current platform configurations and procedures.

• Drive process standardization to enhance operational efficiency and consistency.

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with data engineers, data scientists, and business analysts to ensure platform reliability and usability.

• Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to support enterprise data initiatives.

• Participate in cross-functional meetings to translate business requirements into technical execution plans.

7. Capacity & Resource Planning

• Monitor system capacity metrics and recommend scaling or optimization strategies.

• Provide resource planning insights to enterprise architecture teams for future capacity management.

Required Skills & Competencies

Core Technical Expertise

• Hands-on experience with Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog (EDC) and Apache NiFi.

• Familiarity with Mainframe systems, preferably IBM LPARS and z/OS.

• Strong scripting skills in Python, Shell, or similar languages.

• Proficient in Linux, Windows, and z/OS environments.

Infrastructure & Monitoring

• Expertise in virtualization and containerization technologies (VMware, Docker, Kubernetes).

• Experience with cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS, or Azure preferred).

• Strong understanding of automation frameworks and monitoring tools (Grafana, Splunk, Prometheus, AppDynamics, etc.).

• Proficiency in capacity planning, system tuning, and performance monitoring.

Soft Skills

• Excellent documentation and requirement-gathering capabilities.

• Strong organizational and multitasking skills; ability to manage several concurrent initiatives.

• Proactive problem-solving with a focus on root cause analysis and process improvement.

• Clear and confident communication across technical and business audiences.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in cloud migrations or hybrid cloud design.

• Understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools.

• Familiarity with security frameworks, access control, and data encryption techniques.

• Prior experience working in enterprise-scale data environments (experience with Ford Motor Company analytics platforms is a plus).

Experience Requirements

• 10+ years of overall experience in IT infrastructure or platform engineering.

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in infrastructure development, configuration, or operations.

• Proficiency in at least two scripting/programming languages, or advanced expertise in one.

Education

• Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.

• Preferred: Professional certifications in Informatica, Cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure), or Security.
