Job Description

This role will be responsible for implementing and maintaining Environment, Health, and Safety systems and ensuring compliance with statutory, corporate, and site-specific EHS requirements. The role involves continuous improvement of the safety culture, effective risk management, and operational excellence across EHS functions.

Main Tasks:

  • Conduct regular plant safety observations and safety inspections to identify unsafe conditions and

practices, and initiate corrective and preventive measures to strengthen the safety system.

  • Organize and conduct safety training programs to enhance safety awareness and competency of shop floor employees and contract workmen.
  • Ensure effective operation, inspection, and maintenance of fire protection and safety equipment, including hydrant systems, extinguishers, detectors, and alarms.
  • Maintain compliance with Integrated Management System (IMS) standards, including ISO 45001 and ISO 14001, and ensure timely updates of all related documents, records, and procedures.
  • Assist in incident and accident investigations, identify root causes, and evaluate the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
  • Support environmental management activities such as monitoring and operation of STP, ETP, and RO plants, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
  • Handle and update the Online XGN Manifest System and ensure timely submission of environmental returns and compliance reports.
  • Utilize SAP for EHS data management, waste tracking, and audit observations, ensuring accuracy and traceability of information.
  • Coordinate with various departments for hazard identification, risk assessment (HIRA),and implementation of control measures.
  • Ensure periodic mock drills, safety audits, and emergency preparedness activities are conducted as per schedule.
  • Support sustainability and continuous improvement initiatives within EHS performance areas.


Education Qualification:

  • B.E./B.Sc. in Environment, Chemistry, or Biochemistry etc.
  • M.E./M.Sc. in Environment or Post Diploma or Advance Diploma in Industrial Safety.


Experience:

  • 3–6 years of relevant experience in EHS functions within a chemical, pharmaceutical, or manufacturing industry, preferably at a plant location.


Competencies:

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of EHS management systems, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001.
  • Good knowledge of environmental systems such as STP/ETP/RO and waste management practices.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP.
  • Effective communication, training, and coordination skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Proactive approach to safety and environmental compliance.


Skills:

  • Proficiency in local languages and English, both written and spoken, to facilitate effective communication with employees and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Strong learning agility and continuous improvement mindset.
