The Factory Medical Officer is responsible for managing the Occupational Health Centre and ensuring employee health through preventive, curative, and statutory medical services. The role includes conducting medical check-ups, health awareness programs, and ensuring compliance with applicable health and safety regulations. It also involves liaison with hospitals, managing medical supplies, and handling emergency and first aid services. Key Responsibilities: Responsible for carrying all Statutory Pre-Employment Medical Check-up. Regular check-up of employees working in Hazardous areas. Responsible to frame and Implementation of Medical Policy. Conducting Awareness Campaigns on Health, First Aid etc. Conducting Occupational Health Surveys Handling Medical Legal Case. Responsible for Liaison with local Hospitals and Doctors Provide Training on Industrial / Personal Health and Hygiene Canteen Hygiene Health assurance. Refresher training to first aiders. To ensure good standard of medical care - preventive, curative and promotive. To ensure compliance with statutory regulations and maintain the required records. To handle First Aid and Emergencies arising out of accident, sickness etc. To ensure smooth functioning of the Health Centre Liaison with Hospitals and Specialists for conducting periodical health camps. Pre-employment and periodical Medical Examinations for employees and contractors Promoting Occupational Health and Hygiene Maintenance and Administration of Occupational Health Centre Must be conversant with all the relevant acts, rules and regulations and government orders that may be in force from time to time for compliance point of view. To Prepare the Budget Estimate and the Revised Budget Estimate of the Department every year. To Procure Medical and Surgical items as and when required. Maintenance of adequate stocks for all medicines and required antidotes. Coordination with hospitals for extended services needed by the organizations and execute the requirements accordingly as and when required. Preparing plan and non-plan proposals for hospital buildings and hospital equipment’s, etc. and submit it to dept head for approval. Maintain conduct periodical progress and review meetings of the OHC. Conduct training program and recommending/sponsoring officers/employees of the Department for various training program. Will be responsible to take consent for OHC. Utilisation and disposal of biomedical waste as per the local Authorities requirement. Impart refresher training to dedicated first aiders. Effective maintenance of all the ambulances to cater emergency services. Liasion with certifying surgeon from the government authorities. To prepare and maintain all the documents as per the legal requirement and/or as per Gujarat Factories Rule/ Factories Act requirements. Educational Qualification: MBBS and CIH/AFIH is mandatory. Competencies: 1–5 years in occupational health or industrial medical practice.
