Senior Automation Engineer

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Develop and maintain test strategies, test cases.

2. Implement and manage automation frameworks for functional,

regression, and API testing.

3. Perform manual and automated testing for web, and backend services.

4. Ensure test coverage, defect tracking, and traceability across all

sprints/releases.

5. Execute performance, load testing for critical components.

6. Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate automated tests into CI/CD

pipelines.

7. Analyse production defects, identify root causes, and recommend

preventive measures.

Execution:

1. Test Planning & Design:

1. Define test strategy and scope for new features and enhancements.

2. Create detailed test cases, acceptance criteria, and traceability matrices.

3. Ensure coverage of functional, integration, regression, exploratory, and

UAT testing.

2. Test Automation Development & Execution:

1. Implement automation frameworks using Playwright.

2. Automate UI, API, and database test scenarios.

3. Schedule and run automated test suites via Jenkins or Azure DevOps

4. Ensure automation is aligned with CI/CD processes and supports shift-

left testing.

3. Functional & Non-Functional Testing:

1. Execute manual testing for critical flows, edge cases, and usability.

2. Perform API testing using Postman, automated scripts.

3. Conduct performance testing using JMeter.

4. Defect Management & Reporting:

1. Log and track defects using JIRA.

2. Prioritize, triage, and retest issues to closure.

3. Provide daily/weekly status reports on testing progress, coverage, and

risks.

5. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:

1. Work closely with Developers, DevOps, and Product Owners to resolve defects early.

2. Participate in code reviews and design discussions to ensure testability.

3. Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions and mentor junior testers.

6. Team Collaboration:

1. Work with Developers to ensure testability and faster defect resolution.

2. Partner with DevOps Engineers to embed tests into CI/CD pipelines.

3. Support Product Managers in defining acceptance criteria and UAT Plans.

4. Coordinate with Security & Compliance Teams for vulnerability testing.

Technology Exposure Required

1. 1. Test Automation: Playwright (Primary); Selenium WebDriver, TestNG

(Good to have).

2. API Testing: Postman, Swagger.

3. Performance Testing: JMeter.

4. CI/CD Tools: Jenkins, Git, Azure DevOps.

5. Databases: MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL.

6. Version Control: Git, Bitbucket

7. Defect Tracking: JIRA, Azure DevOps.

Essential Qualifications :

Education:

1. Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, IT, or related field

(Mandatory).

2. ISTQB Advanced Level Test Analyst / Certified Software Test Automation

Engineer (Preferred).

Relevant Experience:

1. 7–10 years of experience in manual and automation testing for web,

mobile, and API services.

2. Hands-on experience in API testing.

3. Experience in performance testing and integrating test automation into

CI/CD pipelines.

4. Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.

5. Exposure to cloud environments (AWS) is an advantage.
