Audit Project Management
Provides significant project leadership for the Internal Audit process and oversees the associated testing of controls
Serves as the primary interface with process owners, external audit management and Corporate
Accounting personnel to communicate design assessment conclusions and testing results
Develops subject matter expertise within select audit and business process areas (and / or
technologies), and frequently advises VGO management on risk and control issues, follow-up audits, and management requests in those areas
Participates in annual risk assessment interviews with VGO management, and provides Internal
Audit management feedback on design of annual Audit Plan
Acquires and demonstrates an understanding of the business process / legal entity under review and
identify potential risks
Prepares the Engagement Program, Audit Objectives Memo, Draft Audit Report and various other audit and project management related documents (as prescribed by VGO Internal Audit’s policies and procedures) by coordinating input / feedback from the audit team and client
Designs and executes an effective strategic testing approach
Reviews workpapers to evaluate fieldwork and testing results to verify that appropriate conclusions
are reached about the adequacy of controls and the efficiency and effectiveness of business processes
Provides constructive and timely workpaper review notes and guidance to audit team members
Applies VGO Internal Audit processes and project management procedures in completing all
aspects of the audit / assignment
Anticipates project management roadblocks and implements measures to mitigate such
circumstances
Presents audit results to VGO management both verbally and through the audit reporting process, and obtains appropriate, timely management action plans and target dates
Client Relationship Management
Manages VGO Internal Audit and client expectations regarding deliverables, timing, and how the audit process works
Delivers audit services in a timely manner with minimal disruptions to client workflow
Leads the Internal Planning, Senior Management Opening, Management Risk Assessment, Status
Update and Client Closing meetings
Maintains an open dialogue with client management about the project, and is responsive and
professional when potential conflict situations arise
Works with client management to develop practical action plans that are appropriately designed to
People Management
Assists in staff recruiting and hiring as requested
Assists in the preparation and delivery of internal training for select new or revised audit processes and at select internal training sessions and VGO Internal Audit Department Training Summits
Serves as an audit subject matter expert (SME) and sounding board for less experienced auditors
Assists in the oversight of the VGO Internal Audit intern program, and serves as a mentor to
interns and staff auditors as requested
Delegates appropriate work to Senior and staff auditors and oversees timely, accurate completion of work
Provides ad-hoc guidance as needed to assist audit staff in the completion of their assigned work
Coaches team members on learning and applying technical and soft skills that contribute to the
individual’s professional development and to successful project completion
Provides frequent ad hoc guidance and feedback regarding audit staff performance, and completes
Provides thought leadership and design / implementation support on designated audit process improvement initiatives
Provides quality assurance support and review of audit process compliance for select audit engagements
Leads Internal Audit focus groups in soliciting input and feedback for internal audit process changes and continuous improvement initiatives
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Information Technology or comparable major required.
Master of Business Administration in Finance or Chartered Accountant or Certified Public Accountant is required
Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) certification is required
Additional qualification of CIA, CISSP, CISM or CFE is preferred
Minimum 8 years of post-qualification experience in Internal Auditing across Financial, Operational and Information Technology domains
