Purpose of the Job:
Acts as liaison between Sales, Operations, and Vendors to ensure smooth
transactions with a heavy focus on customer service and process improvements.
Assesses, audits, and proposes and implements revision of methods of operation,
policies and procedures, or other changes to reduce costs, improve customer
experience and improve processes.
Primarily Roles & Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of shipping routes and delivery, specifically with regard
to customer satisfaction. Proactively anticipates and defuses potential
customer and vendor problems related to freight, packaging and delivery.
Develop and implement transportation strategies for both international and
domestic freight services
Audits freight Invoices (domestic and International) and the freight applied
to sales orders. Approves and/or recommend invoice payment.
Responsible for improving the routing of all shipments to achieve cost
reductions in transportation costs
Create and maintain key freight KPIs for the logistics operations; compiles
information for monthly freight analysis reporting and Distribution Center
metrics reporting, calculates monthly freight accruals
Act as escalation point for communication with suppliers, 3PL, Finance,
Sales, Warehouse and Manufacturing
Work with transportation companies as required to resolve shipping and
receiving issues
Communicate internally and externally regarding transportation
requirements
Interface with service providers to ensure the facilities are receiving
exceptional service from the transportation service providers
Maintain excellent relationships with Sales, Operations and Freight Vendors
by accurately interpreting contracts, tariffs and rates and by providing accurate,
clear and concise information in a timely manner.
Work with Sales, Operations and Vendors to ensure the correct freight cost
is quoted, entered into the Black Box system, invoiced to the customer, and
paid on the invoice. Ensure compliance with all Customs requirements and
programs
Evaluate existing freight rates and proposed changes in rates and
recommends changes in freight carriers, rates and discount structures.
Create efficient processes to collect, distribute, and store freight quote
information for future order execution and invoice payment.
Create routing guides and shipping instructions for inbound and outbound
shipments (domestic and international). Contacts vendors to ensure
compliance.
Coordinate with the Distribution Center on packaging requirements and
creates processes for order placement and inventory tracking.
Manage freight claim submission and follow-up by working across
department lines and with customers. Creates processes to avoid future
claims.
Processes customer requests for industry compliance. Works with
suppliers and Product Engineering to ensure that all necessary documents are
received and customer requests are fulfilled in a timely manner.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities
Thorough knowledge of international and domestic transportation
processes
Pricing/Quoting experience for all modes (air, ocean, rail, ground, FTL, LTL)
Solid knowledge of domestic and international geography including
countries, major cities
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general industry
documentation/communications
Experience working with ocean carriers & co-loaders on global rate
negotiations
Experience reviewing and negotiating transportation contracts
Evidence of process improvement implementation
Proficiency with SAP (or similar ERP system) and Microsoft Office
applications
Strong analytical and problem solving skills Ability to interpret tariffs and contracts
Ability to recommend and implement process improvements
Strong organizational skills
Ability to multi-task and prioritize within many different projects

Education/ Experience Requirements
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
5 to 10 years of experience in similar role
