Role Description

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing day‑to‑day accounting operations, taxation, statutory compliance, and financial reporting. The role requires hands‑on experience in Indian taxation, accurate maintenance of financial records, and analytical support to management for informed business decision‑making.


Roles and Responsibilities

  • Maintain full-scope accounting records (GL, AR, AP, Inventory, fixed assets) and ensure timely month‑end and year‑end close activities.
  • Prepare and review statutory and tax filings, including but not limited to GST returns, TDS returns, income tax compliances, and other indirect/direct tax filings.
  • Manage periodic reconciliation of bank accounts, vendor and customer ledgers, and inter‑company balances where applicable.
  • Coordinate and support statutory audits, tax audits, internal audits, and audit responses; liaison with external auditors and tax consultants.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with Companies Act, GST law, Income Tax Act and other applicable regulations; keep management informed of regulatory changes and implications.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly MIS reports, P&L analyses, variance analyses against budget, and explain key drivers to management.
  • Provide tax planning advice and identify legal opportunities for tax optimization and cash‑flow benefits.
  • Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff; review their outputs and ensure strong internal controls and segregation of duties.
  • Maintain and improve accounting processes, ERP usage, and documentation standards to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Assist with payroll processing and statutory labour compliances (PF, ESI, professional tax) as needed.
  • Act as point of contact for government authorities and compliance-related correspondence.


Key Candidate Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant accounting experience in an Indian corporate environment.
  • Strong practical exposure to GST, TDS, income tax, and statutory compliances.
  • Experience in trading, distribution, contracting, or service‑oriented industries preferred.

Technical Competencies:

  • Sound knowledge of Indian tax laws and compliance frameworks.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Tally, ERP systems, and advanced MS Excel.
  • Experience handling statutory audits, tax audits, and coordination with consultants.

Professional Skills:

  • High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to management.
  • Capability to work independently while coordinating with cross‑functional teams.
