Job Description

The SEO Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing effective strategies to improve a website’s visibility and ranking in search engine results. This role involves technical SEO, on-page optimization, off-page strategies, keyword research, link building, and performance tracking. The SEO Engineer works closely with the content, design, and development teams to ensure that SEO best practices are integrated into website development and marketing efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Technical SEO

  • Conduct technical audits of websites to identify and fix SEO issues such as crawl errors, broken links, page load speed, mobile usability, and other factors that affect search engine ranking.
  • Ensure the website structure, URL architecture, and internal linking strategies are optimized for both search engines and user experience.
  • Collaborate with web developers to implement technical SEO solutions such as schema markup, robots.txt, XML sitemaps, canonical tags, and hreflang tags.
  1. On-Page SEO

  • Optimize meta titles, descriptions, headings, and on-page content to align with target keywords and search engine algorithms.
  • Conduct keyword research to identify high-value keywords and optimize website content accordingly.
  • Ensure that website content is keyword-rich and structured in a way that is easy for search engines to understand and index.
  1. Off-Page SEO and Link Building

  • Develop and execute link-building strategies to improve the website’s authority and search engine rankings.
  • Identify high-quality backlink opportunities and engage with external websites, influencers, and content creators to build relationships and acquire backlinks.
  • Monitor the backlink profile to ensure a healthy mix of do-follow and no-follow links, avoiding penalties from low-quality or spammy links.
  1. Keyword Research and Analysis

  • Conduct in-depth keyword research using tools such as Google Keyword Planner, SEMrush, Ahrefs, or Moz to identify target keywords and phrases.
  • Analyze search trends, competitive keywords, and industry-relevant terms to develop an effective SEO strategy.
  • Continuously monitor keyword rankings and adjust the SEO strategy based on performance data.
  1. Content Optimization

  • Collaborate with content writers and marketing teams to ensure that website content is SEO-friendly and aligns with the overall SEO strategy.
  • Provide guidelines and recommendations on content creation, including the use of keywords, content length, and format.
  • Optimize multimedia content (images, videos) by using appropriate tags, alt text, and filenames for better search engine indexing.
  1. SEO Performance Monitoring and Reporting

  • Use tools like Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and SEO platforms (SEMrush, Ahrefs, Moz) to monitor website traffic, keyword rankings, and other important SEO metrics.
  • Generate regular SEO performance reports to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Analyze website data to understand user behavior, conversion rates, and the effectiveness of SEO campaigns.
  1. Stay Updated on SEO Trends and Algorithm Changes

  • Stay informed about the latest developments in search engine algorithms and SEO best practices.
  • Adapt SEO strategies to align with updates from search engines, such as Google’s core algorithm updates, mobile-first indexing, and changes in local SEO factors.
  • Implement necessary adjustments to stay ahead of competitors in terms of ranking and organic traffic.
  1. Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams

  • Work closely with web developers, designers, and content creators to ensure that SEO requirements are integrated into all digital assets.
  • Collaborate with marketing and social media teams to align SEO strategies with broader marketing efforts.
  • Provide training or guidance to other team members on SEO best practices, tools, and strategies.
  1. Competitor Analysis

  • Conduct competitor analysis to identify SEO strategies used by competitors and develop plans to outperform them.
  • Analyze competitor backlinks, keyword rankings, and content strategies to identify opportunities for growth.
  1. Local SEO (if applicable)

  • Optimize the website for local search visibility, including Google My Business optimization, local directory submissions, and local keyword targeting.
  • Ensure that NAP (Name, Address, Phone Number) consistency is maintained across all online listings.



Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in SEO, with a strong understanding of technical, on-page, and off-page SEO.
  • Proficiency with SEO tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Moz, or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of search engine algorithms, ranking factors, and industry trends.
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and website content management systems (CMS).
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret data and provide actionable insights.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic knowledge of website development and programming languages is a plus.
