Your Role And Responsibilities
Release Manager for IBM Asset Lifecycle ManagementIBM Asset Lifecycle Management needs a collaborative and confident Software Release Manager who guides software products to successful delivery and ensures compliance with IBM processes. Assigned products could be SaaS, on-premise or both. Development teams could be local or remote.A Release Manager oversees the planning, coordination, execution and delivery of software releases. It includes aspects of Agile project management as well as IBM processes for software delivery.They ensure software is released in a smooth and efficient manner. As a Release Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of software products while maintaining stability and minimizing disruptions. Effective communication, attention to detail, and a focus on continuous improvement are essential skills for this role.
Responsibilities Include
- Work with Development Product Management, Security, Support, Legal and other partners to complete Release Management tasks for software products
- Coordinate with development and stakeholders to set and manage scope, and to prioritize and schedule release activities
- Develop release plans, timelines, and milestones, and drive the team to finish tasks on time with high quality
- Facilitate communication to ensure smooth collaboration across different teams
- Help fix problems: Understand the context, get people talking, get to the bottom of it, get action plans and targets, facilitate retrospective review, and apply learnings the next time
- Identify and assess potential risks, develop mitigation plans, and take action as needed
- Perform or facilitate compliance processes such as open source software clearance, security and privacy reviews, and export classification
- Evaluate and improve release processes based on feedback and post-release analysis
Additional Responsibilities Include
Globalization & Translations
- Collaborate with localization teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of translated content across all supported languages, including managing compliance of GB18030 etc.
- Coordinate release timelines with translation workflows to ensure international readiness
- Monitor and manage translation quality issues and escalate as needed
- Support integration of translation management systems into the release pipeline
- Manage the annual budget for translations
Accessibility
- Partner with product and engineering teams to ensure accessibility standards are considered in release planning and execution
- Track accessibility testing as part of the release cycle and ensure compliance with internal and external accessibility requirements
- Advocate for inclusive design and accessibility best practices throughout the development and release process

Required Technical And Professional Expertise
- Release Management Expertise: Demonstrated strong understanding of release management processes, including driving and overseeing scrum of scrums, and effectively planning releases for large-scale system integrations.
- Project Management Proficiency: Familiarity with various project management tools.
- Agile/SCRUM Experience: Extensive experience working in Agile/SCRUM-based environments, showcasing exceptional communication skills (both verbal and written) to facilitate collaboration and project success.
- At least 5 years of experience with software development
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem solving skills
- Consistency and attention to detail
