Job Summary

The Relationship Manager (RM) –

Insurance & Investment is responsible for generating new business, managing existing client relationships, and providing expert financial advisory services. This role involves understanding client financial goals, offering suitable insurance and investment products, and delivering high-quality service to ensure long-term customer retention. The RM plays a key role in driving revenue growth while ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

1. Business Development & Client Acquisition

  • Identify, approach, and acquire potential clients through cold calls, networking, referrals, and market outreach activities.
  • Achieve monthly and quarterly sales targets across insurance and investment products.
  • Conduct in-depth client profiling and understand financial needs, risk appetite, and long-term goals.

2. Insurance Sales & Advisory

  • Promote and sell life insurance, health insurance, general insurance, and group insurance products.
  • Perform detailed need-analysis to recommend suitable coverage and policies.
  • Assist clients with claims, renewals, and policy servicing.
  • Maintain updated knowledge of insurance products, underwriting norms, and compliance requirements.

3. Investment Advisory & Portfolio Management

  • Provide investment recommendations across mutual funds, SIPs, fixed deposits, market-linked instruments, and wealth products.
  • Conduct periodic portfolio reviews and suggest rebalancing strategies.
  • Stay updated on market trends and regulatory changes affecting client portfolios.
  • Ensure all investment plans adhere to risk profiling, KYC, and compliance norms.

4. Relationship Management & Customer Service Excellence

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients to ensure repeat business and referrals.
  • Schedule regular follow-ups, portfolio reviews, and financial planning discussions.
  • Resolve customer queries, service issues, and coordinate with internal teams for smooth client onboarding.
  • Provide an exceptional customer experience at every stage of engagement.

5. Compliance, Documentation & Reporting

  • Ensure strict adherence to regulatory guidelines (IRDAI, SEBI), company policies, and audit requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for all sales, advisory, and client interactions.
  • Update CRM systems and prepare daily/weekly MIS reports on sales activities and conversions.
  • Ensure 100% compliance in KYC, suitability assessments, and product disclosures.

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Marketing, or related fields.
  • Certifications such as NISM, IRDAI License, CFP, or financial advisory credentials are preferred.

Professional Experience

  • 1–5 years of relevant experience in banking, insurance, wealth management, financial advisory, or sales roles.
  • Experience in HNI or retail customer handling is an advantage.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of insurance products, investment instruments, and financial planning.
  • Excellent sales, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities.
  • Customer-oriented mindset with problem-solving capabilities.
  • Basic understanding of CRM tools, MS Excel, and reporting systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and achieve targets.

Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Achievement of monthly & quarterly sales targets.
  • Number of new clients acquired and growth in managed portfolio.
  • Client retention rate and satisfaction scores.
  • Compliance accuracy and documentation quality.
  • Cross-sell and upsell ratios.
  • Contribution to revenue and product mix.
