Regional Security Head - North Cluster

Purpose/Objective

"Central Cluster Head - Solar is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the operations and maintenance (O&M) of multiple solar energy clusters. The role ensures efficiency, reliability, and safety of solar assets while achieving performance targets. It involves leading O&M teams, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing land rights, coordinating with stakeholders, and integrating technological advancements to enhance operations.

Key Responsibilities of Role

Cluster Management and Operational Oversight: Oversee and optimize O&M activities across solar energy clusters, ensuring maximum efficiency, reliability, and safety. Support Site In-Charges in managing routine O&M activities, resource allocation, and maintenance schedules tailored for solar operations. Monitor and improve key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Capacity Utilization Factor (CUF), Plant Availability (PA), and Grid Availability (GA) for solar installations. Review performance reports, conduct root cause analysis, and ensure timely resolution of operational issues affecting solar generation. Ensure tools, tackles, and maintenance equipment are available and in optimal condition for all solar sites. Technology and Innovation: Drive the adoption of advanced technologies to enhance the performance and operational efficiency of solar PV plants. Monitor and evaluate power generation trends, DSM losses, and interruption records to proactively address solar-specific operational challenges. Utilize digital tools like SCADA, SAP, and Gensuite HSE to streamline operations and monitor performance metrics in real time. Stay updated with advancements in solar PV technologies and integrate best practices for O&M into cluster operations. Right-of-Way Management and Regulatory Compliance: Manage land rights and easements for solar PV sites and associated transmission infrastructure. Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, including CEIG inspections, environmental clearances, and safety audits. Coordinate with local authorities, regulatory agencies, and landowners to resolve land-related challenges specific to solar projects. Mitigate risks associated with land acquisition, right-of-way issues, and contractual obligations for solar operations. Client, Stakeholder, and Vendor Relations: Liaise with OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers), contractors, and service providers to resolve technical issues and ensure adherence to service agreements for solar projects. Build and maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies, local authorities, and community stakeholders. Manage high-level engagements with government officials, legal entities, and local communities to ensure smooth solar plant operations. Team Leadership and Talent Development: Lead and mentor O&M teams across solar clusters, fostering a culture of safety, performance, and continuous learning. Implement training programs to enhance technical and operational competencies in solar plant maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance optimization. Plan manpower requirements, oversee hiring, and ensure the retention and development of skilled team members to manage solar projects effectively. Strategic Planning and Financial Management: Develop and manage OPEX and CAPEX budgets to optimize the operation and maintenance of solar plants and substations. Monitor expenses, implement cost-control measures, and drive efficiency in resource utilization across solar projects. Coordinate local procurement and oversee inventory management, ensuring the availability of critical solar spares and minimizing stock-outs. Manage contracts for solar O&M, ensuring compliance with all contractual and statutory obligations. Ensure timely recovery of costs through insurance claims related to solar plant damages or failures. Performance Reporting and Risk Management: Review detailed reports on solar plant performance, including downtime analysis, and recommend corrective actions to improve solar efficiency. Drive robust RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) processes to eliminate recurring solar-related issues. Implement effective risk management strategies to ensure the continuity and reliability of solar operations. Provide regular updates on project progress, challenges, and financial performance to stakeholders. Safety: Promote a zero-incident safety culture across all solar sites, conducting regular audits and safety training programs. Ensure compliance with safety standards and statutory requirements, including electrical safety for high-voltage solar systems and safe installation/maintenance practices. Drive safety initiatives like Suraksha Samwaad to enhance employee awareness and adherence to safety protocols in solar plant operations.

Education Qualifications: BE/B.tech/Diploma - Electrical or Electronics + MBA preferable Work Experience: 20+ years of hands on experience.
