Role Overview
We are seeking a diligent and technically proficient
Quality Engineer – Electrical
who will ensure that all electrical works in solar/EPC projects comply with quality standards, technical specifications, regulatory codes and safety norms. The role will involve oversight of materials, installation, testing, commissioning, documentation, audits, and corrective actions to maintain high quality and reliability of electrical systems throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- QA/QC Planning & Documentation
Develop and implement Project-specific Quality Plans (PQP), Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), Quality Control Procedures (QCPs), method statements, and audit plans for electrical scope.
Maintain and manage quality documentation: material submittals, vendor certificates (MTCs, data sheets), calibration certificates, inspection requests (IRs), material inspection requests (MIRs), test reports, as-built drawings, and quality logs.Ensure that only approved drawings, specifications and documents are used at site, maintaining document control and revision tracking.
- Material & Equipment Verification
Inspect and verify incoming materials and electrical equipment (cables, switchgear, inverters/transformers, panels, protections, etc.) to ensure compliance with project specifications, manufacturer standards, and applicable codes.
Coordinate with procurement/store/vendor teams to ensure material quality before issuance to site or installation.
- Site Inspections, Installation Monitoring & Testing
Supervise and inspect electrical installation works on site — including PV system interconnections, cabling, earthing/grounding, switchgear installation, protection systems, panel wiring, and auxiliary power systems.
Perform and/or witness electrical testing and commissioning activities: insulation resistance, continuity, polarity, grounding, functional tests, and final system checks.Monitor installation quality and workmanship, ensuring adherence to approved drawings, method statements, safety norms, and regulatory requirements.
- Non-Conformance Management & Corrective Actions
Identify, document, and report non-conformances (NCRs) or deviations from specifications or procedures.
Lead root-cause analysis, coordinate corrective and preventive actions, and ensure closure of NCRs before subsequent works proceed.Maintain NCR register, track status until resolution, and ensure corrective measures are implemented and documented.
- Quality Audits & Compliance
Conduct periodic quality audits and inspections across procurement, installation, commissioning, and handover phases to ensure consistent compliance with project standards and regulatory codes.
Collaborate with site teams, subcontractors, vendors, and client/third-party inspectors to ensure audits, tests, and compliance processes are properly implemented.Ensure HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) compliance in all quality and QA/QC activities related to electrical works.
- Commissioning & Handover Documentation
Support pre-commissioning, commissioning and final handover by ensuring all QA/QC documentation, test reports, as-built drawings, certifications, and compliance records are complete and delivered.
Prepare QC summary reports, punch-lists, inspection logs, test & validation reports, and quality dossiers for submission to project management or client.
- Coordination & Stakeholder Communication
Work closely with project engineers, site engineers, procurement, store, contractors/subcontractors, third-party inspectors and client representatives to coordinate QA/QC activities.
Provide technical support and guidance to construction teams, vendors, and subcontractors regarding quality requirements and standards.
- Continuous Improvement & Quality Culture
Participate in feedback loops, lessons-learned sessions, and quality reviews; propose improvements to QA/QC processes, checklists, and methods for future projects.Promote a proactive quality culture on site — ensuring workmanship, safety, documentation, and compliance collectively meet high standards.
Qualifications & Skills
Education:
B.E./B.Tech in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics (or equivalent).
Technical Knowledge:
Solid understanding of electrical systems — solar PV systems, inverters, transformers, switchgear, HT/LT cabling, protection systems, earthing/grounding; familiarity with relevant standards/codes (IEC, IS, national/local regulations) and QA/QC procedures.
