Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are hiring a highly competent Quality Manager to lead the complete Quality Assurance & Quality Control function in our Cast Film Production Plant. The candidate must possess strong expertise in film testing standards, polymer quality behavior, defect analysis, laboratory management, and regulatory compliance for hygiene-grade film applications.

This role ensures that all raw materials, in-process film, and finished goods consistently meet required specifications through robust lab testing, process quality control, and equipment-driven accuracy.

Quality Assurance & Quality Control

  • Implement and maintain quality standards for RM, in-process film, and FG rolls.
  • Approve quality parameters such as thickness profile, GSM, tensile properties, puncture resistance, clarity, COF, and winding consistency.
  • Establish quality checkpoints and maintain inspection frequency across shifts.

Laboratory Management & Test Equipment Handling

A. Equipment Operation & Maintenance

Oversee accurate operation, maintenance, and calibration of key laboratory equipment, including:

  • Thickness Gauge / Profile Scanner
  • GSM Cutter & Weighing Scale
  • Tensile Testing Machine (UTM)
  • Dart Impact Tester
  • Elmendorf Tear Tester
  • Coefficient of Friction (COF) Tester
  • MFI Tester (Melt Flow Index)
  • Hot Air Oven / Conditioning Chamber
  • Microscope / Visual Inspection Tools

B. Calibration & Validation

  • Prepare and implement calibration schedules for all lab instruments.
  • Ensure calibration is conducted as per ISO standards (internal & external).
  • Maintain calibration certificates, logs, and audit-ready records.
  • Validate test methods to ensure repeatability and reproducibility.

C. Training & Competency Development

  • Train QC inspectors and shift chemists on correct operation of lab equipment.
  • Conduct refresher trainings on sample preparation, testing protocols, and safety.
  • Certify operators for equipment competency.

Testing & Quality Reporting

  • Supervise testing for physical, mechanical, and optical film properties.
  • Review daily lab reports and provide approval for dispatch (COA generation).
  • Analyze trends using SPC tools and take preventive actions.
  • Ensure traceability in every test and record.

Process Quality Monitoring

  • Conduct line audits for settings such as temperature zones, die pressure, skin/core recipe ratios, line speed, cooling-chill roll parameters.
  • Identify root causes of defects:
  • Gels
  • Thickness variation
  • Black specs
  • Bubbles / contamination
  • Wrinkles
  • Melt line issues
  • Blocking & winding issues
  • Ensure corrective actions are implemented and sustained.

Quality System Implementation

  • Maintain ISO 9001, ISO 14001, GMP-level documentation and compliance.
  • Implement systems for:
  • Non-Conformance (NC) handling
  • CAPA (Corrective & Preventive Action)
  • Change Control
  • Deviation reports
  • Prepare plant for customer and third-party audits.

Customer Quality Management

  • Handle customer complaints with strong root-cause investigation.
  • Provide timely corrective/preventive action reports.
  • Ensure no recurrence of customer quality issues.
  • Support customer trials with accurate film quality data.

Team Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead QC executives, chemists, and inspectors.
  • Coordinate with production, maintenance, R&D, and warehouse teams.
  • Promote quality culture and continuous improvement mindset.

Education

B.Tech / M.Tech in Polymer, Chemical, Mechanical OR M.Sc Chemistry / Polymer Science

Experience

5–10 years in Cast Film, Plastic Film Extrusion or Packaging Industry

Technical Competence

Laboratory test methods, equipment operation, polymer behavior, film QC standards

Systems Knowledge

SPC, CAPA, FMEA, ISO systems, calibration cycles

Software

MS Excel, QC MIS, ERP (Odoo preferred)

Behavior Traits

Leadership, analytical mindset, communication, discipline

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
