Job Summary
Responsible for validating product quality by analyzing and testing the quality of the codebase. Makes decisions affecting architecture of the test codebase including which software to use for writing test code. Focuses on writing code that will be executed in an automated and repeatable fashion which will reduce manual testing efforts and increase code quality and consistency. Develops and maintains code that validates front-end, middleware and database systems, using the latest tools and common programming languages. Provides input into various software development lifecycle stages. Partners with software engineers to write efficient automation code using coding standards and best practices. Executes automated code and creates comprehensive execution reports for team. Repairs complex broken automation scripts and performs peer reviews of automation codebase. Has in-depth experience, knowledge and skills in own discipline. Usually determines own work priorities. Acts as resource and mentor for colleagues with less experience.
Core Responsibilities
- Familiar with video test automation frameworks and industry trends
- Developing test strategies, and designing quality assurance practices; leads and able to contribute to engineering investigations which includes identifying, reproducing, and resolving product defects
- Write and edit complex, automated test code, that allows for repeatable, reliable testing solutions to test the wide functionality of products and software in accordance with specifications and technical requirements, maintaining automation codebase in a version control system.
- Perform code reviews of automation scripts and work closely with Test Engineers and Development teams to build test script hooks that help in earlier and easier testing.
- Collaborates with Product and Development teams to identify product and technical requirements
- Reviews and verifies requirements and design specifications for validity in overall product design, with an emphasis towards product testability and verification
- Assist in the identification and resolution of problems and defects; able to initiate investigation processes, identifies and reproduces bugs or defects and drives issues and improvements to resolution
- Work as a motivated team player and mentor for junior-level engineers. Provides technical leadership and consultation with regards to practices, procedures and techniques.

Preferred Technical Skills
Scripting Languages: Java, CypressOS: Strong Linux Skills, Shell Scripting skills
- Understanding of video product regulatory requirements and test in areas such closed captioning, EAS, IP video streaming, audio/video codec; Dolby Digital Plus, Bluetooth Distribution, EAC3, and other
- Hands-on experience with device/consumer products test related to STB Products/OTT testing.
- Proven experience in developing and maintaining automated test frameworks using Java.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and QA methodologies
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis skills; able to lead cross-functional team triage
- Experience in Agile/Scrum methodology ideally in a fast-paced dev-ops environment
- Experience in Test/Defect Management tool - Jira/ALM” for both documents
- Develops, verifies and deploys reliable, efficient and cost-effective test plans and test cases focused on intelligent risk-based testing
- Proven ability to works with technology partner/vendor teams to troubleshoot problems
- Additional advantage having CPE domain experience or Testing background utilizing RDK/TDK suite
