The Centre of Excellence (CoE) team in Hyderabad plays a pivotal role in driving Deloitte Australia’s success by delivering support across a range of functions. There are 6 distinct CoEs empowering various capabilities—including Reporting & Analytics, Finance, Quality & Risk, IT Services, Marketing, and Talent—ensuring seamless operations and strategic advancement.


Within the Quality & Risk (Q&R) CoE, dedicated sub-teams deliver targeted services such as reporting analytics, Partner Dashboard support, comprehensive due diligence for engagements and clients, conflict management, Personal Independence and Risk Solutions at green dot level.

About the Team: Quality & Risk (Q&R)

The team “Quality and Risk” helps you find information about identifying, mitigating and responding to risk. To maintain Independence and to act with integrity and objectivity, including being free of any conflicts of interest. Maintaining the Independence of the Deloitte entities and its professionals and proactively identifying and managing potential conflicts of interest as part of the client / engagement acceptance process, the team helps Deloitte, its professionals, and its clients protect, preserve, and enhance their reputations.

Work you will do

As an Assistant Manager – Audit Checks and DESC, you will lead and manage the team, acting as the primary liaison between Deloitte’s India and Independence Australia (IA) teams for audit checks, DESC updates, and related transaction projects. Your role centers on effective communication, project execution, and fostering a high-performance team environment.


Audit Checks

  • Serve as the main liaison with the IA team for audit check queries and status updates.
  • Triage and manage all inbound and domestic audit checks for private, significant, and complex clients, including Crown Jewel and government-owned entities.
  • Review and provide feedback on draft clearances prepared by junior team members for audit checks.
  • Allocate audit checks and monitor team activities to ensure timely completion within required deadlines.
  • Assess services and relationships documented in GART, providing comments and discussing with the IA team before finalization.
  • Ensure all DCCS requests and QMS queries are addressed within agreed timelines, with zero escalations.
  • Assist in consolidating ISQM or QAP audit check evidence when required, ensuring all documentation is complete and review ready.
  • Support the team during peak workload periods to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks.

DESC

  • Monitor performance of DESC team members to ensure timely completion of DESC updates.
  • Act as the main contact with the IA team regarding DESC updates.
  • Perform batch reviews in MFL1/MFL2 systems.
  • Facilitate requests for RP rights and DESC access (Entity Monitoring rights) for internal teams and engagement teams.
  • Address queries from other member firms regarding AU audit clients and related matters.
  • Monitor Responsible Party Verification (RPV) for existing audit clients as per Review Cycle Period (RCP).

Deloitte Transactions

  • Review check sheets updated by team members and provide actionable feedback, ensuring high-quality standards.
  • Discuss reviewed check sheets with the IA team, incorporating feedback and ensuring all comments are addressed before finalization.

Other Responsibilities

  • Train new joiners and internal teams on processes and best practices.
  • Conduct cross-training sessions for team members, ensuring attendance and completion of knowledge checks.
  • Ensure all standardized templates (SOPs and clearances/responses) are updated to meet global requirements.
  • Maintain and update trackers with 100% accuracy and up-to-date information for stakeholders.
  • Assist and guide team members on escalations, resolving them appropriately.
  • Provide timely support and guidance to team members on ad-hoc queries.
  • Assist on ad-hoc projects as requested.

Key Skills Required:

  • In-depth knowledge of audit check processes and compliance frameworks (e.g., GART, DCCS, QMS, ISQM, QAP)
  • Proven experience in team management, task allocation, and giving actionable feedback
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder engagement and collaboration
  • Proficiency with systems such as MFL1/MFL2, DESC, and advanced Excel for accurate tracker management
  • Exceptional attention to detail for reviewing documentation and maintaining process accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and handle peak workload periods effectively
  • Experience in coaching, training, and facilitating knowledge transfer within a team
  • Skilled in managing and resolving escalations, providing timely team support
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to consistently meet deadlines
  • Commitment to continuous process improvement and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs)

Qualifications


Required:

  • Graduate or Postgraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or Business Administration
  • 5+ years of total experience in audit, risk management, compliance, or related operations roles
  • Demonstrated experience in team management and stakeholder communications
  • Strong working knowledge of audit/compliance tools and systems


Preferred:

  • Prior experience in a Big Four, consulting, or professional services environment
  • Direct experience with DESC, ISQM, QAP processes or equivalent compliance regimes
  • Familiarity with global audit requirements and international regulatory standards
  • Exposure to project management or Lean/Six Sigma methodologies for process excellence
