Purchase Engineer

The Purchase Engineer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring all components, raw materials, and services required for manufacturing Ralsonics’ machines and plants. The role ensures cost-effective, timely, and quality-aligned procurement while building a strong vendor base for mechanical, electrical, and bought-out components.

This position is crucial for supporting on-time project execution, reducing material costs, and ensuring that production never stops due to procurement delays.

Job Description

· Sourcing and grading potential suppliers/vendors for all machine related parts and accessories

· Supplier database maintenance

· Coordinating all purchase activities in conjunction with design, project management and manufacturing

· Sending RFQs and getting all necessary quotations from vendors

· Negotiations with vendors

Key Responsibilities

· Procurement Execution

· Execute purchase orders for:

· Stainless steel sheets, plates, pipes, angles, structural materials

· Fabrication items (laser cutting, bending, machining, buffing, DP testing)

· Ultrasonic components (transducers, generators—if outsourced)

· Pumps, blowers, filters, heaters, sensors, valves, fittings

· Electrical & instrumentation components

· Packaging, consumables, hardware, and fasteners

· Ensure procurement is aligned with the project schedule and priority list.

· Track and follow up on all POs to ensure timely material delivery.

· B. Vendor Management

· Identify new vendors for:

· Fabrication

· Machining

· Electrical components

· Mechanical parts and assemblies

· Specialized items (SS316 spray guns, sensors, insulation, epoxy, etc.)

· Maintain vendor performance data (quality, pricing, delivery reliability).

· Conduct regular vendor audits and develop long-term partnerships.

· Ensure vendors meet quality, compliance, safety, and documentation requirements.

· C. Cost, Negotiation & Value Engineering

· Negotiate the best price without compromising on Ralsonics' quality standards.

· Compare and analyze quotations using a structured comparison sheet.

· Drive cost reduction through alternate vendors, design suggestions, and bulk pricing.

· Work with the design team to help reduce material cost through specification optimization.

· D. Coordination & Communication

· Coordinate with:

· Design team for BOM clarity and drawing understanding

· Production team for consumption planning and urgent requirements

· Project Execution team for project timelines and dispatch priorities

· Accounts for vendor payments and GRN issues

· Provide material availability status during daily/weekly production meetings.

· E. Documentation & Systems

· Maintain all procurement-related documentation:

· Purchase requests

· Enquiries & quotations

· Negotiation records

· Purchase orders

· Delivery schedules

· Material inward follow-ups

· Update purchase data in ERP/software or Excel trackers.

· Follow the internal procurement SOP strictly.

· F. Quality & Compliance

· Ensure all materials meet required specifications, grades, and certifications.

· Liaise with QC for incoming inspection failures and vendor corrective action.

· Track warranty claims or replacement requirements.

Requirements

B.E. in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or similar fields.

B. Experience

3–5 years of experience in procurement in manufacturing or capital equipment industry.

Experience in fabrications, machining, mechanical/electrical components is highly preferred.

Experience with ultrasonic cleaning systems or industrial machinery is an advantage.

C. Technical Skills

Understanding of mechanical drawings and BOMs.

Knowledge of:

Stainless steel grades

Sheet metal fabrication processes

Pumps, piping, valves

Electrical and instrumentation components

Strong negotiation and vendor evaluation skills.

Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP systems, and documentation.

D. Soft Skills

High ownership and urgency in completing tasks.

Excellent communication and relationship-building.

Good analytical and comparison skills.

Strong time management and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
