Purchase Engineer

Hiring candidate who have experience working for Forging and casting shop. He will be responsible for sourcing, procurement, and vendor management of raw materials, tools, and consumables. The role ensures timely availability of quality materials at the best cost while maintaining inventory levels, supplier relationships, and adherence to company procurement policies. 1. Procurement Operations: Manage the purchase of raw materials (steel, alloy, etc.) and consumables required for forging operations. Review and process purchase requisitions and convert them into purchase orders. Ensure timely procurement to avoid production delays. 2. Vendor Management: Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable suppliers for raw materials, tools, and services. Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and quality standards. Monitor vendor performance and maintain strong supplier relationships. 3. Cost Control & Negotiation: Source materials at the most competitive prices without compromising quality. Track market trends for steel and forging materials to make informed purchase decisions. Support cost-reduction initiatives and budget adherence. 4. Inventory Coordination: Coordinate with stores and production departments to maintain optimum inventory levels. Monitor stock levels to avoid overstocking or stockouts. Assist in managing lead times and re-order levels for critical materials. 5. Documentation & Compliance: Ensure accurate and up-to-date maintenance of procurement records, purchase orders, and contracts. Ensure compliance with company policies, legal norms, and quality standards. Coordinate with accounts for timely processing of supplier invoices and payments. 6. ERP & Reporting: Use ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Tally, etc.) for purchase planning, order generation, and vendor tracking. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly purchase reports and MIS for management review. 7. Cross-Functional Coordination: Liaise with design, production, quality, and finance teams to understand technical specifications and material requirements. Support New Product Development (NPD) and trials with procurement of samples or development materials.
