Hiring: Project Head – Expansion & New Projects (Graphite)

About the role:

We are expanding two existing plants (Bandhamandi & Lakshmipur) and setting up a new plant at Bainibasa. We need a Project Head who can manage the entire journey, from planning and procurement, through construction and commissioning, to handover. Candidate must be from the mineral‐processing industry (not just general manufacturing), and must be hands‐on with beneficiation plants, equipment, vendors, electrical & automation systems.

What you will do:

• Lead project planning: define scope, layout, capacity expansion, timeline, budget, risks.
• Select, procure and install processing equipment: crushers, mills, classifiers, flotation cells, thickeners, filters, dryers and conveyors specific to mineral beneficiation.
• Handle procurement & negotiation: prepare BOQs, technical specs, float enquiries, compare vendors, place orders, track delivery and performance.
• Vendor and contractor management: identify and qualify vendors from the mineral‐processing domain, manage civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation contractors.
• Manage electrical, automation & instrumentation: connected loads, MCC / VFDs, cabling, PLC / SCADA systems, ensure synchronized installation.
• Oversee sampling, quality control, and compliance specific to processing plants: feed, intermediate, tailings, concentrate, record keeping, regulatory reporting.
• Manage environmental, health & safety (EHS) in mining/processing context: method statements, PPE, safe electrical / mechanical work, statutory compliance under Mines Act and Mineral Conservation rules.
• Monitor cost, schedule and quality: maintain budgets vs actuals, keep simple trackers and weekly reports, address deviations.
• Commissioning & handover: dry/wet trials, performance guarantee runs, spare parts list, training of operations team, and formal handover.

What you must know:

• Strong background in mineral processing or beneficiation plants (e.g., graphite, iron ore, coal, chromite) — proven experience in equipment selection and process flows.
• Proven track record in project delivery from FEED through commissioning in mineral‐processing / plant environment.
• Good knowledge of processing technologies: crushing, grinding, classification, flotation, filters, dryers etc for mineral beneficiation.
• Experienced in procurement, vendor management and contract negotiation in the minerals sector.
• Good grasp of electrical & automation systems used in processing plants (MCC, VFDs, PLC / SCADA).
• Familiar with regulatory compliance in mining / beneficiation environment (Mineral Conservation & Development Rules, Mines Act, state pollution board clearances).
• Ability to use project tools: MS Project / Gantt, Excel trackers, drawings review.
• Languages: English (for vendor documentation) and preferably Hindi/Odia (for site teams) in Odisha.

Skills & experience:

• 10 to 20 years of experience in mineral-processing plants/projects or mining/beneficiation sector.
• Hands‐on and field-oriented: you work on site, meet contractors/vendors, resolve practical issues.
• Strong negotiation and procurement skills, especially equipment and spares in the minerals domain.
• Mechanical plus electrical/automation competence.
• Should have managed contractors and internal teams in a processing-plant environment.

Nice to have:

• Exposure to ISO systems (9001, 14001, 45001) in a processing environment.
• Experience with water reuse, waste tailings management, dust suppression in beneficiation plants.
• Prior experience in Odisha or Eastern India plants is a plus.

Education:

• B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Electrical, or similar.
• M.Tech in Mineral Processing is an added advantage.

What you will manage day to day:

• Foundation works, equipment erection, piping, conveyors, cabling, earthing, lighting, instrumentation.
• Site stores and spares planning, vendor follow-ups.
• Safety toolbox talks, housekeeping and compliance checks.
• Daily coordination between civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation teams so no delays or cost overruns.
