About Izmomicro
izmomicro is India's pioneer in
Silicon Photonics Packaging and
System-in-Package (SiP) solutions, operating a state-of-the-art cleanroom facility in Bangalore.Leveraging our proven engineering capabilities in advanced packaging and photonics integration, we are now expanding into the manufacturing of high-speed Optical Transceivers. We are collaborating with leading technology providers for PICs, DSPs, and optical components to build India-designed products for data centers, AI compute environments, and telecom operators. This role is critical to shaping our product portfolio and translating technology into scalable, market-ready solutions.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Product Manager to lead our optical transceiver portfolio.
This role will initially focus on technology absorption and configuration, while also contributing to product roadmap development, market alignment, and go-to-market readiness. The ideal candidate comes from a telecom or network engineering background, understands how optical hardware is deployed in real-world environments, and can translate both supplier technology and customer requirements into product direction. The Product Manager for Optical Transceivers is responsible for defining and executing the roadmap across both high-volume datacenter pluggables (100G1.6T PAM4) and telecom/coherent modules (100G800G ZR/ZR+/OpenROADM). This role spans the full product lifecycle, market analysis, roadmap planning, requirements definition, NPI execution, customer engagement, and business management with a deep understanding of both hyperscale datacenter trends and optical transport network requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Technology Transfer and Integration
- Understand reference designs, specifications, and integration requirements from technology partners for Optical Transceivers for datacenter (DR/FR/LR, LPO, 400G/800G/1.6T) and telecom/coherent (100G/400G ZR/ZR+, 800G+).
- Translate supplier inputs into internal technical guidelines for packaging, photonics alignment, and prototyping.
- Should have knowledge of relevant standards: IEEE 802.3, OIF, OpenROADM, MSAs (QSFP-DD, OSFP, CFP2-DCO), ITU-T.
- Customer Requirements & Product Definition
- Engage with hyperscalers (AWS, Google, Microsoft, Meta), cloud providers, enterprise datacenter operators, carriers, and network equipment manufacturers, telecom companies, and system integrators.
- Capture technical and operational needs (bandwidth, reach, power budget, heat constraints) and author PRDs as per requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering teams (silicon photonics, DSP, opto-mechanical, firmware, test) to deliver competitive, manufacturable designs.
- Lead cross-functional development from concept through sampling, qualification, and volume manufacturing.
- Product Strategy & Roadmap
- Contribute to defining and executing the product roadmap for Optical Transceivers for datacenter and telecom/coherent.
- Monitor technology trends through engagement with customers and industry leaders, such as the transition to 800G and 1.6T speeds and the adoption of silicon photonics and co-packaged optics (CPO)
- Monitor market trends across hyperscale expansion, AI/ML cluster connectivity, enterprise cloud growth, metro/DWDM transport evolution, and DCI buildouts.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Coordinate with engineering, sales, marketing, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to accelerate product development.
- Support creation of customer-facing technical collateral (datasheets, application notes, competitive analysis).
- Ensure product quality, reliability, and compliance with customer and industry requirements.
Qualifications
- Technical Competencies
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics & Telecommunication or equivalent, Optics/Photonics, Physics, or a related technical field.
- 8 - 15+ years of experience in optical communication or product management (or relevant system/network engineering).
- Strong technical knowledge of optical transceiver architectures, PAM4 and coherent modulation, DSPs, link budgets, and optical component technologies.
- Experience in taking optical modules from concept to mass production.
- Ability to work with customers across hyperscale and telecom markets.
- Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Preferred
- Master's degree or MBA.
- Experience with silicon photonics, co-packaged optics, tunable lasers, DSP architectures, or high-speed electronics.
- Background working directly with hyperscalers, carriers, or NEPs (Ciena, Nokia, Cisco, Huawei, Tejas Networks, UTL, etc.)
- Familiarity with manufacturing and test processes for pluggable optical modules.
- Core Competencies
- Strategic product vision across multiple market segments
- Deep technical understanding of datacenter and telecom optics
- Excellent customer-facing communication
- Structured decision-making and prioritization
- Cross-functional execution and program leadership
- Strong commercial and market awareness
