Your Job
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Design Engineer to join our high-speed connector product development team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electro-mechanical component design, specifically in connector terminals for automotive, industrial, or consumer applications. You will be responsible for the complete product development lifecycle, from concept to production, ensuring robust, reliable, and cost-effective terminal designs.
What You Will Do
Finite Element Analysis
- Develop detailed FEA models using tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, Nastran, LS-DYNA, COMSOL, or similar.
- Perform static, dynamic, thermal, nonlinear, fatigue, and vibration analyses.
- Conduct modal, buckling, crash, and contact simulations as required.
- Run sensitivity studies, design-of-experiments (DoE), and optimization analyses.
Design Support & Validation
- Work closely with design engineers to evaluate concept feasibility and structural integrity.
- Provide simulation-based recommendations for material selection, geometry changes, and design improvements.
- Validate simulation results through correlation with physical testing and real-world data.
Model Development & Documentation
- Create high-fidelity meshes and define boundary conditions, loads, and constraints.
- Document analysis methodology, assumptions, and results in clear engineering reports.
- Maintain simulation databases, workflows, and analysis standards.
- Hand on knowledge on FEA on sheet metal components
- Use NX to model precision plastic and sheet metal parts of connectors/terminals applying DFM/DFA principles
- Conduct tolerance analysis, maintain DFMEA, and request FEA simulations (mechanical and signal integrity)
- Review dimensional and test results; provide engineering approvals for tooling and products , Engineering Change & Documentation
- Manage engineering changes using Teamcenter PLM software; create effective product specs, application specs, handling manual, and other documentation quality, Cost & Process Improvement
- Engage in VAVE initiatives with manufacturing and supply chain stakeholders Cross-Functional & Global Collaboration
- Work closely with global teams—Product and Program Management, Sales, Signal Integrity, Reliability, Customers, Suppliers, Manufacturing Integration, Plant teams—to clarify requirements, address queries, and troubleshoot field failures
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
Educational Background:
- B.E. or B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering or similar; master’s degree is a plus.
- Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience in design, especially involving plastic and sheet metal components (molding, stamping, plating)
- Familiarity with wire termination techniques such as crimping, soldering, welding preferred
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong understanding of DFM/DFA, GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFMEA, and basic FEA simulation
