Job Description

Role Overview: You will be joining a high-speed connector product development team as a Design Engineer. Your main responsibility will be the design of connector terminals for automotive, industrial, or consumer applications, ensuring robust, reliable, and cost-effective designs throughout the product development lifecycle. Key Responsibilities: - Conduct Finite Element Analysis using tools like ANSYS, Abaqus, Nastran, LS-DYNA, COMSOL, or similar software. - Perform various analyses including static, dynamic, thermal, nonlinear, fatigue, and vibration analyses. - Conduct modal, buckling, crash, and contact simulations as needed. - Run sensitivity studies, design-of-experiments (DoE), and optimization analyses. - Collaborate with design engineers to assess concept feasibility and structural integrity. - Provide simulation-based recommendations for material selection, geometry changes, and design enhancements. - Validate simulation results through correlation with physical testing and real-world data. - Create high-fidelity meshes, define boundary conditions, loads, and constraints. - Document analysis methodology, assumptions, and results in clear engineering reports. - Maintain simulation databases, workflows, and analysis standards. - Model precision plastic and sheet metal parts of connectors/terminals using NX applying DFM/DFA principles. - Conduct tolerance analysis, maintain DFMEA, and request FEA simulations (mechanical and signal integrity). - Review dimensional and test results, and provide engineering approvals for tooling and products. - Manage engineering changes using Teamcenter PLM software. - Engage in VAVE initiatives with manufacturing and supply chain stakeholders. - Collaborate with global teams from Product and Program Management, Sales, Signal Integrity, Reliability, Customers, Suppliers, Manufacturing Integration, and Plant teams. Qualifications Required: - Educational Background: B.E. or B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering or similar field; a master's degree is a plus. - Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in design, particularly involving plastic and sheet metal components (molding, stamping, plating). - Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of DFM/DFA, GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFMEA, and basic FEA simulation.
