The #NielsenIQ technology teams are working on building a unified, global, open data ecosystem powered by Microsoft Azure. Our clients around the world rely on #NielsenIQ data and insights to innovate and grow. Feeding data into the “Connect” platform are also a set of large scale applications that process millions of records of data every day.

As a Principal Engineer, you’ll be part of a team of smart, highly skilled technologists who are passionate about learning and prototyping cutting-edge technologies. Right now the platform for which we are hiring is based in Java, ExtJS (Sencha), Angular, Spring Boot, Tom Cat, Oracle, Elastic Search, Mongo, Azure Cloud and we continue to adopt the best of breed in cloud-native, low-latency technologies. We value CI/CD in everything that we develop. Our team is co-located and agile, with central technology hubs in Chicago, Madrid, Toronto and Chennai.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of smart, highly skilled technologists from a technical standpoint
• Review solutions developed by the team from design to deployment
• Own end-to-end solution design for several application components 
• Provide epic-level estimates and drive delivery to meet expectations
• Responsible for planning and delivering your & the team’s commitments
• Guide & mentor the team on tasks/activities of an increasingly complex nature, that may require extensive research and analysis
• Evaluate technologies we can leverage, including open-source frameworks, libraries, and tools
• Provide solutions to improve process quality, understand emerging technologies, standards, and best practices in cross-platform development
• Demonstrate mastery in applying concepts, and methodologies to innovative solutions
• Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies and frameworks to maximize efficiency
• Lead and implement modern Dev Sec Ops practices
• Integrate and leverage AI tools and frameworks to optimize Engineering Practices

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
• 12+ years of software development and leadership / management experience
• High proficiency in a technology stream and can quickly adapt/upskill to new technologies. 
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms and designing for performance, scalability and availability
• Good knowledge and working experience on Java / ExtJS / Angular
• Good knowledge and experience with SQL (preferably Oracle)
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to foster an environment of innovation, experimentation, and inclusion in solving problems, seeking, and embracing diversity of thought. 
• Extensive knowledge and experience in Dev Sec Ops practices
• Extensive knowledge and working experience in using AI tools in Engineering
