Role Title

Position Summary:

Provide technical leadership and strategic direction to the Quality Engineering (QE) organization. Design and build new generation testing frameworks for enterprise grade distributed applications. Work closely with service provider Architects and review their designs for automation solutions. Evaluate and provide recommendations on different tools and technologies for frontend, middleware, and backend applications. Develop Quality Engineering strategies and standards, including KPI’s and Metrics for regression and performance testing for development teams. Educate Product teams on QE best practices and assist them in their adoption. Coach product teams in implementing QA and QE practices in a SAFe Agile environment. Evaluate current QA or QE process in Product teams and drive them to conform with established standards. Collaborate with Platform teams to ensure tools required for testing conform to standards and help implement new solutions as required. Work with Product teams to ensure integration/end-to-end test cases are identified and maintained. Devise QE solutions for CI/CD pipelines in public cloud or hybrid infrastructures. Understand application architectures and recommend solutions for end-to-end testing. Engage with other QE staff to deliver high quality testing solutions across the organization. Assist in the evaluation of QE-related vendors. Collaborate with QE tools architects/engineers to resolve issues and recommend improvements. Conduct POC projects on emerging QE technologies and drive them towards adoption in the organization. Mentor QE staff and assist in developing curriculum for staff upskilling.

Expected deliverables may include: Quality Engineering Strategies, Test Strategies, Test Implementation Plans, Jira Initiatives, Epics and User Stories, presentations to Senior Management, and Marriott internal deliverables

Job Responsibilities:

Quality Leadership:

• Mentors and coach’s other QE team members as well as product team members on QE tasks and procedures
• Communicates opportunities to improve quality to leadership
• Functions as a working SDET where needed
• Assists in setting best practice quality procedures
• Reviews and edits product documentation
• Drives the adoption of TDD, BDD and related test-first development methodologies
• Establishes the flow of work within the quality area including code reviews
• Provides leadership and support to quality inspections
• Functions as escalation point for SDETs
• Creates best practice quality procedures

Delivering Technology:

• Performs complex quantitative and qualitative analyses for delivering automated testing processes and tools
• Enabling tooling such as Tosca, NeoLoad, Cucumber, etc.
• Facilitates CI/CD using a DevSecOps pipeline
• Validates solutions with enterprise architecture team
• Facilitates achievement of expected deliverables and obligations of Services Providers
• Ensures proper coordination with appropriate IT and vendor teams
• Coordinates with Operations and Infrastructure teams for deployment and production support activities
• Design and execute end-to-end automated test scenarios using Tricentis Tosca, ensuring comprehensive coverage of business workflows

Managing Projects and Policies:

• Advises team on debugging aids available for environments
• Prepares testing schedules and documents expected results
• Assists in the scheduling and maintenance of lower environments
• Assists in the defect management process
• Participates in the identification and monitoring of risks and issues
• Serve as a key member of the QE leadership team

Skills and Experience:

Required:

• 8+ years of IT leadership experience with a blend of deep technical knowledge and a customer-focused mindset
• Experience in software development, test engineering, with expert-level expertise in multiple testing methodologies
• Experience engaging highly technical architecture, engineering and operations teams and driving outcomes with QE automation
• Strong verbal and written communication and problem-solving skills
• Able to guide the implementation of BDD, TDD and related approaches to software development
• Experience with Test Automation and DevSecOps tools (e.g., Git, JIRA, Ant, Maven, Jenkins)
• Undergraduate degree in an engineering or computer science discipline and/or equivalent experience/certification

Preferred:

• Demonstrated success leading medium- to large-scale initiatives/transformations.
• Proven knowledge of Agile methodology (preferably SAFe Agile).
• Experience with mixed and offshore delivery models.
• Good process management, negotiating, influencing, and problem resolution skills.
• Proven ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
• Knowledge of business environment, service requirements, and hospitality culture.
• Ability to assess customer/client needs, creatively approach solutions, and influence appropriate courses of action.
• Ability to communicate technology lifecycles and strategies.
• Experienced in maintaining reusable test assets and integrating Tosca with CI/CD pipelines for continuous quality validation.
• Experience with Ready Api, Selenium or Playwright.

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience/certification.
