Summary of Role:

Principal Network Engineer WAN SME

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering teams to validate network designs and support implementation from Day 0 through handover to operations.
• Act as a senior escalation point for WAN and multicast network issues; investigate and resolve critical incidents.
• Engage with partners and vendors to drive fixes and support seamless migrations.
• Work closely with cybersecurity teams to assess and mitigate vulnerabilities.
• Design, build, and support scalable, low-latency WAN architectures, with emphasis on MPLS, multicast, and segment routing.
• Provide automation leadership by reviewing and improving Ansible and Python-based automation scripts.
• Develop dashboards and monitoring tools for near real-time network visibility.
• Maintain system performance, produce documentation, and coordinate with cross-functional teams during upgrades and changes.
• Drive CI/CD pipelines for network-related automation and testing.
  

Core Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with WAN technologies, MPLS, multicast routing protocols (PIM-SM, PIM-SSM, IGMP), and VRF-based services.
• Proficiency in Segment Routing, LDP, RSVP, BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, and GRE tunneling.
• Proven ability in troubleshooting using advanced packet capture and analysis tools.
• Familiarity with SDN, Cisco ACI, and financial sector low-latency networks.
• Experience working in Agile environments with tools like JIRA.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Networking, or a related technical field.
• CCIE certification (preferred or actively in progress).
• 5+ years of focused experience in WAN network engineering.
• Background in financial services or experience working with telecom/network service providers.
