Job Description

Key Responsibilities


Strategic Planning & Deployment


  1. Plan, allocate, and manage all plant and machinery required for project execution.
  2. Ensure optimal deployment of equipment to different work fronts based on project priorities and progress.
  3. Forecast equipment needs and coordinate with procurement for hiring, mobilization, or purchase


Technical Expertise & Troubleshooting


  1. Possess in-depth knowledge of all machinery, including operating parameters, mechanical systems, and technical specifications.
  2. Lead diagnosis of major breakdowns and guide the maintenance team on corrective actions.
  3. Accurately estimate machine downtime, repair time, and resources required to restore operations.


Maintenance Management


  1. Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of all equipment to ensure high availability.
  2. Review maintenance schedules, approve job plans, and ensure timely execution.
  3. Monitor critical machines like track-laying equipment, welding machines, cranes, batching plants, loaders, forklifts, etc.


Performance Monitoring

  1. Track machine utilization, fuel consumption, operating hours, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  2. Analyze repeated failures and drive root-cause analysis (RCA) for permanent corrective action.
  3. Optimize maintenance cost, spare parts inventory, and turnaround time.


Safety & Compliance


  1. Enforce adherence to all safety protocols, statutory requirements, and OEM guidelines.
  2. Conduct regular audits, safety checks, and risk assessments for plant & machinery operations.
  3. Ensure all operators and technicians are trained and certified to operate machinery safely.


Team Leadership


  1. Lead and supervise a team of engineers, supervisors, technicians, and operators.
  2. Allocate daily tasks, monitor performance, and support capability development within the team.
  3. Coordinate with project managers, construction teams, and subcontractors for smooth site operations.


Vendor & Contract Management


  1. Manage AMC contractors, service providers, and equipment suppliers.
  2. Review service reports, negotiate maintenance contracts, and ensure timely delivery of spares and support.
  3. Maintain strong relationships with OEMs to ensure quick response during breakdowns.


Documentation & Reporting


  1. Maintain detailed records of equipment logs, service reports, breakdown history, and maintenance data.
  2. Prepare weekly/monthly reports on machine performance, downtime, cost analysis, and future needs.
  3. Support audits and compliance inspections with proper documentation.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree/diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 8–12 years of experience in plant & machinery management for large infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanized construction equipment.
  • Excellent leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver results in fast-paced project environments.
