About the role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Specialist - Payroll to manage and execute payroll operations for Apna India. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in regional payroll laws, statutory compliance, and best practices and will ensure accurate and timely payroll processing while supporting audits, process improvements, and vendor coordination.


Job Location : Domlur -Bengaluru


Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with internal HR/Finance teams to capture all payroll-impacting changes.
  • Validate data inputs from HRIS, time tracking, benefits, and variable inputs (Allowances, bonuses, commissions, etc.).
  • Must verify that all Flexible Benefits Plan (FBP) entries are correctly calculated and disbursed within the stipulated timeline.
  • Process monthly salary and Bimonthly Full and Final settlements
  • Timely submission of reports to Finance & Accounts and audit support.
  • Develop, document, and continuously improve payroll management.
  • Oversee the vendor's payroll & compliance, ensuring timely resolution & quality responses within the agreed turnaround time (TAT).
  • Implement internal controls and mitigate risks related to payroll and compliance.
  • Identify gaps, educate and make improvements for smooth functioning.

  • Communication: Explain salaries, FBPs, taxes, deductions and changes in a way that employees easily understand, reduce confusion, stress and help feel employees supported.
  • Collaboration: Ensure seamless data flow and correspondence between the payroll function, accounting teams, and external vendors to maintain accuracy, compliance, and timely payments.
  • Quality driven mindset: Carefully verify all calculations and employee salary details to ensure accuracy, safeguarding employees’ earnings and maintaining the company’s reputation.
  • Problem solving skills: Confidently address issues like pay discrepancies, tax changes, software glitches and occasional delays in personal actions by quickly assessing situations and implementing effective solutions. Your expertise shall ensure smooth, accurate payroll operations despite challenges.
  • Integrity: Always take the right course of action even when things get busy and stressful. Knows the importance of secure systems, password protection and restricted access to sensitive data.
  • Must have handled end-to-end Indian payroll activities for at least 700-1000 employees, Consultants & Interns such as Payroll input collation, Validation of inputs, Sending to payroll vendor, payroll checks & reconciliations etc.
  • Hands On knowledge on Statutory compliances, Monthly Remittances, Filings & Returns, Year End activities etc.
  • Managed inter team joint activities like audits, journals, clarifications on queries with HRBPs etc.
  • HR Ops activities viz. Preparation of letters, Managing consultant agreements & renewals,Leave & attendance management etc. On-boarding & Induction experience will be an added advantage.
  • Expertise in MS Office & proficiency in G-Suite will be added advantage.


Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor of commerce or BBA / MBA (Finance & Accounting Focus)
  • 5 to 7 yrs of relevant experience in Payroll and related roles catering to India
  • Current knowledge of payroll procedures and related laws
  • Excel (advanced level, including pivot tables, formulas)
  • Experience administering payroll for 700-1000+ employees across multiple entities.
