Job Description

Job Summary:

The National Recovery Manager (NRM) is responsible for leading and executing strategies to optimize recoveries from Special Mention Accounts (SMA-2) and Non-Performing Assets (NPAs). The role focuses on minimizing slippage, maximizing recoveries and write-off collections, and improving overall portfolio health. The NRM will ensure team productivity, regulatory compliance, legal coordination, and effective stakeholder communication while driving performance through structured campaigns, monitoring, and targeted interventions.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Portfolio Oversight & Performance Management

    Ensure month-on-month consistency in reducing slippage and improving SMA-2 efficiencies
  • Monitor and drive NPA and write-off recoveries in line with budgeted targets
  • Track and enhance productivity across staff and agencies
  • Allocate and monitor portfolio distribution agency-wise and staff-wise


  • Strategic Execution & Reporting

    Launch and monitor collection campaigns
  • Prepare and submit timely reports to internal and external stakeholders, including Audit, Compliance, Finance & Accounts, Strategy, the Board, and Regulatory Authorities
  • Support in planning manpower needs and oversee recruitment, training, and performance of staff
  • Aligned with Business and understanding the Operations, Product specifications, and cost levers to drive it in the market



  • Legal & Compliance

    Validate and initiate legal actions on delinquent accounts
  • Prepare and review One-Time Settlement (OTS) data for approval and reporting
  • Ensure legal data readiness and involvement in legal proceedings as necessary


  • Operational Leadership

    Empanel and manage recovery agencies, including payout management
  • Conduct regular field visits, performance reviews, and implement corrective actions
  • Identify process gaps and drive mitigation strategies


  • Stakeholder Management

    Liaise with cross-functional teams including Business, Legal, IT, HR, Strategy, and Operations
  • Address customer complaints and fraud cases, ensuring prompt resolution and reporting


  • Team Supervision

    Monitor the activities of Territory Collection Managers (TCMs) and Collection Executives (CEs)
  • Drive staff engagement and ensure alignment with organizational recovery goals



Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education:

    As per the Bank’s norms
  • Experience:

    Proven experience in recovery and debt management functions within the banking or financial services sector
  • Core Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of debt recovery strategies and legal frameworks
  • Leadership and team management skills
  • Analytical abilities to assess geographic and demographic recovery trends
  • Proficiency in stakeholder management and interdepartmental coordination
