Role Overview

Merchandiser

This role requires strong communication, technical knowledge of fabrics, and the ability to manage timelines efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

1️⃣ Fabric Sourcing & Vendor Coordination

• Identify, evaluate, and onboard fabric vendors based on client requirements (quality, GSM, blends, finishes, dyeing, knitting, printing, etc.).
• Source fabrics as per seasonal trends, B2B client specifications, and approved tech packs.
• Negotiate pricing, timelines, MOQs, and sampling requirements with vendors.
• Maintain a database of reliable mills, knitters, printers, dye houses, and trim suppliers.

2️⃣ Understanding Tech Packs & Product Specifications

• Thoroughly understand tech packs provided by B2B clients including:
• Measurements
• Construction details
• Stitch types
• Printing/embroidery instructions
• Labeling & packaging
• Coordinate with the design team and production team to ensure accurate sample development.
• Highlight discrepancies or missing information in tech packs before initiating production.

3️⃣ Sampling & Approvals

• Execute sampling according to client requirements (fabric, trims, fit, color, print).
• Follow up with sampling teams for timely completion.
• Share swatches, trims, fit samples, and PP samples with clients for approval.
• Ensure all feedback is incorporated into final production-ready samples.

4️⃣ Production Coordination

• Create internal production sheets based on approved tech packs and sampling references.
• Align with cutting, stitching, finishing, and QC teams to ensure smooth workflow.
• Monitor production stages to meet client delivery timelines.
• Resolve daily operational issues by coordinating with internal teams and vendors.

5️⃣ Quality Control & Compliance

• Ensure fabric quality matches approved swatches (GSM, shrinkage, color fastness, hand feel).
• Work with QC team to ensure stitching, measurements, finishing, and packaging meet required standards.
• Conduct inline and final inspections for B2B orders.
• Ensure packaging, branding, and labeling follow the client’s SOP.

6️⃣ Client Communication & Order Management

• Act as the main point of contact for B2B clients regarding:
• Sampling
• Production updates
• Delivery timelines
• Approvals
• Issue resolutions
• Share regular progress reports and TNA trackers with clients.
• Build long-term trust by delivering consistent service and quality.

7️⃣ Logistics & Delivery Coordination

• Plan dispatches based on client's delivery schedule.
• Ensure packaging, quantity checks, and labeling are accurate.
• Coordinate with logistics partners for pickup and delivery.
• Prepare and hand over necessary documents (invoice, packing list, QC reports).

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 2–6 years of experience in apparel merchandising (knits preferred).
• Strong understanding of fabrics: cotton, modal, spandex blends, GSM, knitting, dyeing, printing, finishing.
• Ability to read and interpret tech packs and measurement sheets.
• Good communication skills for vendor and client interaction.
• Problem-solving ability to handle daily production challenges.
• Knowledge of TNA planning and production tracking.
• Strong coordination skills with sampling, production, and QC.
• Proficiency with Excel, Google Sheets, and basic ERP tools.
