Job Description

Position: Project ManagerLocation: MumbaiIndustry: Retail (Asia's largest retail chain healthcare company)
  • Project delivery methodologies: Agile, Waterfall and Hybrid approaches
  • Common tools: JIRA, MS Project, Confluence, Power BI / reporting dashboards
  • Cross-functional coordination across Store Operations, Pharmacy, Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance and IT

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of large, cross-functional projects such as store system implementations, pharmacy technology rollouts, inventory & supply chain optimization, and process standardization across a large retail estate.
  • Develop and maintain integrated project plans, budgets, resource forecasts and milestone schedules; drive timely execution and escalation where required.
  • Coordinate and align multiple internal stakeholders (store operations, pharmacy teams, procurement, finance, legal, IT) and third-party vendors/contractors to ensure smooth implementation and operational readiness.
  • Own vendor management activities for project delivery: scope alignment, SLAs, performance tracking, issue resolution and contract change control.
  • Manage regulatory and compliance requirements specific to healthcare retail (data privacy, pharmacy regulations, safety requirements) and ensure project deliverables meet those standards.
  • Plan and oversee pilot runs, user acceptance testing (UAT) in stores, phased rollouts and cutover activities to minimize operational disruption and customer impact.
  • Drive change management and training initiatives for store and pharmacy staff; produce clear operating procedures and training materials to enable adoption.
  • Identify, assess and mitigate project risks and issues, creating contingency plans and communicating impacts to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Establish and maintain performance metrics and dashboards (e.g., time-to-live, inventory accuracy, stockout rates, uptime of critical systems) to monitor delivery and business outcomes.
  • Coach and mentor project team members and encourage continuous improvement in delivery practices and processes across programs.
  • Manage communications with executives and business leaders, facilitating governance forums and ensuring clear decision-making and accountability.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience managing large, complex projects in retail, healthcare retail, supply chain or related industries with multi-functional teams and store-level delivery components.
  • Proven track record delivering store rollouts, supply chain or pharmacy-related projects with measurable operational impact.
  • Strong program management capabilities including budgeting, forecasting, vendor management, risk management and benefits realization.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder management and communication skills; comfortable engaging with senior executives and operational leaders.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence without authority and drive change in complex operational environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to operational detail and customer impact.
  • Familiarity with project delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid) and practical experience applying these approaches in delivery contexts.
  • Practical experience with common project and collaboration tools such as JIRA, MS Project and Confluence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with reporting and dashboarding tools (Power BI or equivalent) for tracking project and operational metrics.
  • Experience managing regulatory and compliance requirements relevant to healthcare retail (data protection, pharmacy regulations) is highly desirable.
  • Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2) or formal change management qualification.
  • Hands-on experience planning and overseeing pilot runs, store UAT and phased rollouts in large retail estates.
  • Prior experience in vendor performance management (SLAs, KPIs), contract change control and commercial negotiations.
